Anchors away
When I was a kid I loved building model ships, but eventually I stopped building ships and I have been building only planes for the last twenty years. So after I finished the Italeri P47 thunderbolt, I began looking for something different. I settled on the Revell reissue of the very old Renwal kits. Being a destroyer, there wasn't a lot of parts as compared to a battleship kit with all the various bits and pieces. Assembly wasn't very complicated, the best part was the one piece hull. Two piece hulls are the worst, because of the large seam line that has to be filled and sanded. The rest of the kit just falls together without any problem. Definitely recommended for modelers of all skill levels.

A trip down the memory lane for the old timer.
Same old kit that I used to build almost 50 years ago.Odd scale, probably wont find another kit of the same scale.Still decent quality , although it cant really compare to the later Japanese or the current Chinese kits.A trip down the memory lane for the old timer.

Nice Nostalgic Kit - Thanks Revell!
Nice to see Revell re-issuing the old Renwal kits from 50 years ago. Renwal's 1/500 S series had a nice line of ships in this scale. True to the era, these kits are not as accurate or precisely detailed as the current levels of new kits produced today. However, these kits offered a level of detail, form, fit and assembly that was superior for the day. Most kits from the 50's and 60's would only reproduce 20mm or 40mm guns as molded blobs rather than individually molded parts. Renwal's prescription for fidelity of detail again was superior true to the "Blueprint" slogan. Only due to the age of the model's accuracy from the era it was produced, was my sole reason for marking this kits 4 stars. In terms of build quality and nostalgia it rates 5 stars. I still have copies of this kit that I purchased in the 60's with the price tag of $3.00. That wouldn't even cover the cost of shipping today. However, with that said, even with inflation at ~$16.00, I think this is still a good value. This is a good beginner's entry level kit. With care and patience, following the instructions, even the novice can produce a decent static display model.

Missile Destroyer!
A largish model of a 1950s missile destroyer of the United States and I am looking forward to building it and to adding it to my fleet. Let all aggressors watch out.
