This was a last minute impulse purchase before a 10 day trip to Europe. Originally I got it to use on all day outings when I would be carrying more than the usual stuff I'd put in a pocket. But by the end of the trip, I was going full on man-purse/murse carrier and using it all the time. Very convenient! It was great at the airport and I'll never fly without this again. For being out and about, it was perfect for when you have a little more than you can comfortably stuff in your pockets or you just want easier (and a bit safer) access to stuff like your wallet or phone. Its not big but it will easily hold a wallet, sunglasses and a Kindle with a bit of room left. Its not nearly big enough to carry even a small bottle of water though. I found it very useful for getting stuff out of my pockets or carrying a bit of extra stuff. Carrying a murse definitely marks you as a tourist but I also felt it was safer and easier to protect from pick pockets etc.Some of the reviews seem to knock this thing for being small. It is definitely not big, but that's a feature not a defect. This is a pants pocket expander/substitute, not a mini knap sack. For outings where you need to actually pack something like a bottle of water or some food beyond a single clif bar, you'll want to look at something bigger.

I bought this as a camera case for my compact camera when traveling and hiking. Not only is it perfect for this, but also it makes an ideal "purse" around town. I only use it as a shoulder bag, typically near the front for convenient access and for extra security in crowds. The back sleeve provides ready access to my iPhone. While its small hook-and-loop fastener didn't inspire confidence, it has proven to be more than adequate…and I have given it a pretty thorough testing. I bought a tan one while they were available. Alas, Mountainsmith's new colors seem to have been chosen with women in mind.

I bought this bag for a long trip to Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Norway. I wanted something that would be hands-free when traveling with my large pack or hiking with my backpack (keeping passports and wallet close-by and insight) and that would serve as a crossbody bag for evenings or walking around cities. This bag worked beautifully! The material is very durable and was water resistant (the times I got caught in the rain, everything in the bag stayed dry). With adjustment, the strap was long enough to wear across my body (I am 5'6" and slim to average weight). When I used it as a fanny pack, there is a lot of extra strap; however, there is an unobtrusive elastic band that holds the extra strap. Not perfect, as I needed to periodically adjust the band, but workable. There was enough room (with a little to spare) to hold several passports, my wallet and a case for my glasses. When I return home, I see this as being a great bag to use when walking the dog or hiking. Very happy with this purchase.
