Q: Will it be good for a new Alienware 17 R5? I hope to bike with it and need to carry some books too.

it will fit just fine. I imagine on a bike it might be a little awkward and a little heavy to carry though. I carry mine with 2 book and some gaming accessories for down time and it does good but I couldn't imagine what it would be like with a bike though.

Not 100% sure as I have a 15, however, there does appear to be some extra room when I put mine in and the rest of the bag fits far more than the first glance would suggest. So I'm 99% sure it'll fit your 17.

My laptop is a beast at over 17 inches long and close to 3 inches high and it fits with no issues. The only issue with this bag is that it will Frey badly with time. I still use it but it looks rough.
