This lasted 3 years. Original lasted 10+ years. And other brand toilet levers have lasted 20+ years. As other reviewers have said, it is unacceptable that Toto, which brands itself as such a premium quality supplier, can't make a lever that lasts a decade or more. The toilet that this failed lever is on gets used only a few times a day by two people--this is not like a toilet in a public restroom or something! I wish Toto would reach out to me to make this right. So why four stars if I am so unhappy? Because I want Amazon to keep selling this item. Thanks to Amazon for at least selling this lever in all the color varieties--something tells me I'll be back again to buy more!!

After about 20 years in operation the handle for flushing my TOTO toilet began to stick in the lift position and the tank fill valve would continue to run. The stopper could not drop down into it's sealing position because the elevating level was always up. I gave it a quick exam in place and decided to replace the flush handle mechanism. There are several replacement handles with operators offered on Amazon. I decided to spend the additional money to buy a TOTO replacement handle and operator lever. It was a good choice. It took me five minutes to replace the existing handle. Before installing it I had inspected it for material defects. After removing the old handle I noted that a boss cast in the metal handle of the original assembly had been work hardened and eventually failed. This tear in the casting would trap the operating lever. I noted that the new cast handle had a much thicker wall in the well of the boss. TOTO had employed continuous improvement techniques to redesign the handle casting for greater strength and durability.

The unit looks perfect and works perfectly. I am knocking off a star for the following reason: I had to buy this (twice) because in two of my Toto toilets the plastic cam inside the flush lever cracked and disintegrated. This happened at ten and fifteen years, respectively. I have no problem with that, but I have a problem with having to buy the entire flush handle assembly just to replace that tiny plastic part. The rest of the assembly is metal and will probably last forever.If this happens to you, follow this advice (which unfortunately I didn't think of before purchasing): To get the plastic part, you do not have to buy a flush lever assembly that matches the finish of your toilet, brushed nickel in my case. Get the cheapest one.

I keep having to buy handles for Toto toilets. Same with the seats. High end toilets with parts constantly breaking. Would never have bought a Toto Toilet if I knew all the peripheral parts, including parts inside tank, would keep failing. Toilets they replaced worked for 15+ years and I NEVER had an issue.NOTE: Called Toto Customer Support and they were very rude.

Looks like the design of the new THU004 is slightly improved, providing a little more support to the top of the inner slot where the brass bar sits. Old 2006 model handle lasted 10 years, and this new design might make it 15+ years, if I'm lucky.Handle design is slightly different than the one 10 year old version it's replacing, being a little bit deeper (side to side as you face it), and it it's a flat surface without the slight ridge that ran across it from the flat part of the handle. It ends up being a case of "if you didn't know the difference, you couldn't tell the difference".

Bought this as a replacement for the original that lasted 10 years. Bought in November - it broke the following July - not even a year!!The design allows the bar to pivot but after a while it seems to wear and stick. I bought an OEM part so I wouldn't have to monkey around and paid the premium price to get it - don't bother.I noticed on one of the other negative reviews another person had the same issue and replaced this with another Toto part that is a different design. It's twice as expensive but they said it works great so I bought that to replace this - I don't feel like having to fix the toilet every 9 months.

When the original Toto trip lever on the Ultramax toilet wore out, I thought I'd just run to the local big-box hardware store and buy a replacement that claimed to fit. Aside from the aesthetics of never looking quite right, so much time and money was wasted on generics that never worked properly. This Toto trip lever is aesthetically appropriate on the tank exterior, and the inside metal bar is angled just right to lift the flapper and allow a complete flush. Lesson learned.

the new handle design isn't exactly like the original but I'm the only one that knows that. works like it should.

seems to work well. Original part has design fault and broke after a few years. This replacement seems to be more built up in the region where the original wore out so I'm hopeful that It should last for a long time. Unfortunately this part was more expensive than I hoped it would be.

I had forgotten just how well my Toto toilet had worked when it was new. Over the years it's slowly slid to the point that I had to hold the handle down for the whole flush cycle to get it to work. But now, just the lightest pressure on the handle and it flushes perfectly again, using little water. Glad I did it. Takes like 5 minutes to install.

Press gently on the handle every time you flush or it won't last 1 year as internal part will break. This is my 3rd replacement on the Toto.

Replaces the original lever that wore out. Given the high cost of the original toilet I was surprised that this part wore out, but the metal is quite soft. The replacement is a little different. Hopefully it will last longer. Amazon delivered a day earlier than expected.
