Oxford Dictionary of Literary Terms by Chris Baldick, 1990, 2015 is a near 400-pages of A-Z, though there are no page numbers from Y onwards due to the design and typography of the book. The book includes Further Reference and then plugs other Oxford books. As with most dictionaries, there is a lot of information of more than 1,200 definitions of terms from Abjection to Zeitgeist.

L'analyse littéraire requiert un vocabulaire précis : il serait dommage (et dommageable) de confondre des figures de style, de se mélanger dans la métrique en poésie... Pour ce qui est de l'anglais, voici un ouvrage fort commode. En plus de 385 pages, de abjection à zeugma, on trouve de nombreuses entrées, détaillées en pleine page (on évite ainsi les deux colonnes serrées et peu lisibles). Théories linguistiques, figures de style, mouvements littéraires : ce dictionnaire brasse large, et un système de renvois permet de rebondir d'un terme à l'autre. On notera une bibliographie sélective, mais aussi des références portées sous certaines notices.Voici donc un outil de travail commode et riche d'informations, très utile au commentaire littéraire en anglais.
