I don't get it
I feel like I've fallen for they hype surrounding these IEMs. Of the 4 or 5 audio sites I checked when researching these, all I could find were gushing reviews waxing lyrical about the quality of the sound. Those glowing reviews and the absolutely reasonable price tag made me impulse buy the KZ ZSX's. Boy was I disappointed when they arrived...I'll preface this by stating I am by no means informed when it comes to IEMs. My preference is for large, comfortable, over-ear headphones and I have several pairs of both open and closed back. I thought a well-regarded pair of IEMs would be just the thing for throwing in my coat pocket to use with my DAP and much better suited for travelling than my large Beyer Dynamics and the like. I'll also add to this that I mostly listen to 24-bit FLACs through decent (but not ridiculous) equipment. That said, my heart sank when I plugged in the ZSX's and played a few tracks which I know inside out. All I hear is treble, treble and more treble. Remember the first time you got a Walkman for Christmas in the 80's and you spent a good half hour playing with different EQ settings by sliding the faders to different extremes? Well imagine playing a song and setting the bass and mids to 0 and treble to maximum. That's what these sound like to me. Thin, tinny and lacking anything below 2.5kHz it seems. Don't get me wrong, the sound being produced is crystal clear - no distortion, no hiss, no obnoxious frequencies. However, I find myself trying far too hard to set up the EQ at source to make these sound half decent and that's not something I want to spend my time doing. I'd rather be enjoying the music.I fell for the reviews and I'm annoyed at myself for believing the hype. I don't think they're bad, but these are certainly not the aural experience I was looking for.

The Terminator does exactly that. Best KZ by far!
Here's that time where KZ have officially smashed it out the park. After a rather poor experience with the Zs10 Pro and their fatiguing sound in the upper treble, and their rather sloppy isolation and fit, I was really looking forward to The terminatorsAnd I am happy to say they fix everything that was bad in the 10 Pro, but add much more besides, these do not disappoint!Fit is excellent and comfortable! With great isolation too, even with stock tips.Anyway sound......The ZsX are punchy and warm and very detailed in the bass, plenty of sub bass and wallop here, drums are excellent too and have a great clout indeed. However it's never overpowered, just balanced and feels right. Excellent detail.Mids are ever so slightly recessed, but only slightly, plenty of warmth and detailed range on offer, they sing and play to you. Timbre is excellent.Treble is where the Zs10 Pro gave me trouble with its mid treble being very harsh, the ZsX completely rectifies this and then some.... The highs are more extended and detailed, but with zero fatigue.Still rolled off, but so nicely done its a pleasure to hear.Summing up, these are most definitely the most balanced KZ monitor yetIt's also the most technically sound yet too.Obviously this is why they're called the terminator, because they literally blitz every KZ that's gone before. You can listen to rock, or opera or jazz and they'll easily handle any genre you throw at them, Timbre is excellent throughout the spectrum.Easily the best and most rounded KZ period. And even better these sound every bit as good as a high end stage monitor, ie Shure, Westone etc, but better and more refined.Add an upgrade cable and you're not gonna get better sound unless you go custom.Exceptionally brilliant.5 stars plus.

Hands Down Unbelievable Quality for the Price
Hands down, unbelievable quality for the price. As an owner of Campfire Andromeda and former owner of Sennheiser ie800, I never expected to be super impressed by a pair that cost a mere fraction of my prized iems. Fit and comfort are also worthy of note. The bass is the first thing that grabs you but it isn't overwhelming or off putting. Just more present than neutral. As other reviewers have said, the stock cables get tangled very easily.Bottom line is sound quality wise, they easily compete with iems 5 or 6 times their price. Allowing you to replace the cable with your own custom cable is just extra icing on the already delicious cake.

Sound that send shivers down my spine
Didn't expect much for the price, I knew they were good based on the reviews but nothing prepared me for what happened next, I've put them on and wow, just wow... Holy Mother of God, these are the best earphones I have ever listened to (so far), I'm blown away, separation is excellent, soundstage is amazing, bass digs deep, highs are clear and not tiring, I'm listening on my phone (galaxy s7) sound is just mind blowing, there is no need for external amp as at 75% volume they're loud, very loud. Best money ever spent

This should be the shortest review ever!
This really should be as simple as, BUY these if you’re even thinking about a new pair of IEMs…I’m not an audiophile, but I definitely am a lover of sound quality. I’m also a lover of a good bargain! And these are quite frankly, “for the money” a total no brainer.I’m a middle aged guy, and over the years have owned a great many headphones, earphones, IEMs etc, so of course these ZAXs are gonna be compared to a lot of other ear goggles I have owned, some costing £500 and up.What can I say that’s not already been said about these? They’re amazingly good IEMs, like really astoundingly good.8 drivers in a design which is so comfortable and light they almost “disappear”, leaving you to luxuriate in a wonderfully rich, detailed and engaging listening experience is a marvel.I’ve been listening to a fair range of music through these, from electro and techno, to hip hop and jazz, to acoustic and classical. The zaxs make everything I’ve played through them sound just great. Some reviewers have said the highs are fatiguing and shrill, and bass is a bit lacking. Well let them stroke their beards and nitpick. Fact is, for under £60, these are the finest IEMs you could ever hope to find. One can’t expect much for that money nowadays. I’ve spent more during a trip to McDonalds! But seriously, how this is even possible, I have no idea. Its how far audio technology has come recently. The closest pair of ears I could compare them to cost well over £300, and these trounce them!I won’t mention the cable, because I won’t be using it, having bought KZs Bluetooth ear hooks, which compliment the units perfectly. So I won’t get my silver coated copper in a twist over that aspect.I’m using an iPhone XS and it’s surprising how loud these are even compared to other KZ models. I’m finding just above 50% is plenty, even outdoors. One tiny gripe is the tips. They’re thin and really cheap silicone and don’t really get a great seal. Easily fixed by buying some decent memory foam tips, but literally that is the ONLY bad thing I can say about these. So yeah, not to put too finer point on it, I am pretty much gobsmacked by these IEMs. Not even joking when I say if I’d have paid £200 plus for these I’d be thrilled with my purchase, but less than £60? And they even look super cool in matte black.I’m my recent quest for the best sound quality on a budget, I’ve found my grail, (for now) and if you’re a lover of music and read a lot of reviews, make this the last one you read before you pull the trigger…Happy listening.
