Q: I want to know if this is a heavier weight set - not a light weight?

It is a nice, heavy weight. My previous set was heavier by a little bit, but it was a $300.00 set in the 1970's, and this one can definitely compare well. I am very pleased with it.

Q: Is there any way that one could buy just 8 more of the teaspoons?
