It's not! Just use the real shoe!

Q: How long is the shoe lace? I need to replace it

The laces are pretty long. I would easily say over 16 inches. If you need longer laces yes they can easily be replaced.

Q: Can the child actually put their foot in the shoe?

Not sure we have never tried. lol! But it did help her greatly in learning to tie her shoe!
