Pipits and Wagtails of Europe, Asia and North America
Pipits and Wagtais can be a tricky group as regards identification but this book will greatly solve any problems. The introduction is very comprehensive giving a detailed account of moult and aging, species concepts, and taxonomy etc.The coloured plates and photographs are placed so that the confusion species are on the same page or close by giving a quick comparison of varous plumage and age differences.Treatment of the specis accounts are highly details and included line drawings distribution maps, sonograms and photos. The question of subspecies is discussed with comments that might displease some "Spitters" ) I myself am a "lumper")Some may think this book pricey, my opinion is that its good value for money. If like me you are smitten with Pipiptry and Wagtailitis, this is THE BOOK!!!!
