It's a watch that needs winding, that Automatically winds based on arm movement. Hence, an automatic. It has no battery because it has no electronics. I have a different Lige watch. It's a cheap mechanical watch. Don't go here looking for Rolex or Omega. But for the money, it's kinda cool looking and it functions well.

Q: I will only be wearing his watch on occasions so will I be able to put it on automatically start winding itself or just be able to wind it up ?

I would wind it 15-20 times every few days if not wearing much.
