Ascension (13th Set): Delirium

I already own a couple the Ascension sets. The first thing I can say... is that this set IS Ascension. This set has not deviated conceptually from what you know and love about this game (if indeed you do love it). Again, I haven't played every set... but I believe most of the mechanics in this set have been done before in others; however, they have a small new twist.For example, one of the expansions had a "Fate" mechanic... this set has the "Fate Auction". The thing I believe is brand new to the Ascension world is the "Delirium Die". You can gain "Insight" (little golden eggs introduced in Dreamscape) that then can be used to win Fate Auctions or to try your luck at rolling the Delirium Die. It's a six-sided die that you get to roll on your turn if you pay the price of 5 Insight (5 eggs :) ). Each side is unique, one being more runes, another more attack, etc. Insight can also be used to enable the "Recur" Mechanic on some cards as well. This allows you to play a card affect again.We've played it twice so far... and everyone liked it. It's true to Ascension's tradition. The new cards are pretty good too, the actions on some of them are really fun. I hope that there will be a small expansion coming to go along with this set!

I started to get into MTG but quickly realized that this old dog was surrounded by folks that have been doing this for a while and own really expensive and powerful decks. I like the card collecting but not the expense or the amount of time investment. That is when someone told me about Ascension. I love that you can upgrade by buying sets and not booster packs. It is fun with friends and you don't have to break the bank or obsess over the next powerful card. And I love the deck building aspect. Sold my Magic cards and went all in on this one. Glad to make the change. Magic is fun and obviously has a following (25 years) buy Ascension has some of the same feel with out the card chasing.

Super fun version of Ascension! This one has definitely been our go to game. The addition of the delirium die is great

This is probably my favorite deck building experience so far and I have other versions of Ascension, Star Realms and Shards of Infinity. There is a lot of movement in the game and it's never boring.
