I have never had shingles, but I do... or did get cold sores every time I got a cold it seemed.Now, the minute I feel a cold coming on the lysine HCL powder is one of the things I run for. I actually haven't had a cold sore since I started using this.I also have chronic sinus in the winter. It seems the minute we turn the heat on, my sinus start acting up. This is one of the things I do to lessen it. Also.. my eyes have so much slime in them. UGH!I take this not only by mouth, but I also use it in my neti pot and eye drops.This is the recipe I use for both the eye drops and neti potDistilled water ... enough to fill your neti pot1/4 teaspoon sea salt1/4 teaspoon baking soda1/4 teaspoon MSM powder (found on Amazon)1/4 teaspoon Boron powder (This helps with yeast and fungus) Boric acid works well instead of the Boron1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon Lysine ( if I am having a good day, I use the 1/4 tsp)This mixture works for me really well and I don't have to use it everyday once I get it under control. But if I feel a cold coming on.... I use the neti pot to help stop it or lessen it.

I purchased this for use with my cat, who has sniffles after the vet recommended a much higher priced product. Since using it, she has showed no signs of runny eyes or sneezing. Lysine is an amino acid that apparently disrupts the virus replication cycle, so it's great for people (or pets!) who has issues with constant colds, cold sores, or during the winter months. There's so much in this bag that I have split it up; I have a dedicated container for my cat and some I left out for me, for when I begin to feel run down and need a boost!The only downside is the bag is a little odd, but I just transferred it into my own container (a reusable yogurt container) and boom, problem solved. The powder itself can be a little bitter so make sure to mix it in with some yogurt (if it's for yourself) or with some wet cat food if it's for your kitty friend.

This dissolves really easily. First I tried it just with plain water and it had a little bit of a taste, nothing bad or good, I can’t really describe it. I tried mixing it with my electrolyte powder, and that seems to be the magic ticket! Can’t taste a thing!

I've been ordering this product for some time now and I have noticed that the consistency of this batch is different. In the past it has been more granule. Now it's like powder with some clumping. Has your manufacturing process changed?

I take lysine whenever I feel a cold sore coming on and it really does the trick to get rid of it fast and stops it from exploding into an ugly mess. As many of you know, lysine pills are huge. Last week I swallowed one only it didn’t go down and I began to choke and gag. It also scratched my throat the entire way down. I decided I never want to experience that again. I put this powder in my body armor drink and it actually makes the body armor taste even more delicious. However I tried to mix it in water and it was absolutely awful. Really horrible. Will never use water again! Yay for powder lysine!

My previous Lysine supplement was expensive with no fillers and additives; however, they started using something called vegetarian capsule (cellulose, water). I was wary because many products use cellulose from corn, which I am allergic to. I did research on the vegetarian capsule and was very surprised that these capsules are made from WOOD! Here is a description from one online seller of empty capsules: "Vegetarian Capsules are produced with 100% plant-derived material (HPMC: hydroxy, propyl, methyl, and cellulose) and purified water. The HPMC is a wood pulp derived from the softwood tree species including Pine and Spruce."I am allergic to pine and spruce pollen and needed to find a powder with nothing but the lysine in it. This is the best powdered lysine I found when searching on Amazon and other supplement websites. Pure organic ingredients. Made in USA. That says it all!

Prior bags of this product have been a nice scoopable granular stuff. The most recent bag is a clumpy lumpy powder that sticks in the scoop. I’m ordering another bag in the hopes that it will be better.

Most of the lysine supplements for animals are flavored, and the vet warned me not to use them. This is a powder and I give my cat an eighth of a teaspoon twice daily in her food. Her eyes are clearing up and the drainage is much less. Plus it’s less expensive than the flavored ones!
