This was required for a writing class I took this quarter, but has proved useful in several other classes as well. The handbook is very well organized with no fluff or nonsense. Most college writing focuses on MLA style, which this book covers in excellent detail, but occasionally you will be asked to write in a different and unfamiliar style and at that time, this book will come to the rescue. I was able to write a history paper in Chicago style with the help of the Little Seagull.Additionally the book has an online website for reference and further details, with complete sample papers in all the styles, that you can explore in depth. I used the website resource on multiple occasions this last quarter and my papers benefited from the attention to detail on style.Finally, the greatest benefit of the Little Seagull Handbook is that it is in fact, little. It is small, compact and light as a feather, which is a godsend to all of us students who are already carrying around too much weight in our backpacks. Its light enough that I don't mind bringing it around 'just in case' I need it, although I would prefer a kindle edition to reduce the weight even more. Highly recommended!

I was required to purchase this book for my English 101 class. This can be a very useful reference for writing essays and other papers, how to cite sources, learning about different formats, ect. I used this for the basic needs, or just looked online for small things that the book could've answered in the same amount of time. I would recommend it if you need a reference for literature based subjects, but if you need small tips and answers I would recommend saving your money (even though the book is well priced) and do a quick search on the internet.

The reason this book gets FIVE stars is the fact that it was shipped in less that two days. I needed this for school Wednesday and ordered it Monday and got it Tuesday. My seller was within a state though and it was ordered Monday morning but they sent it right out. I think that the spiral version is better because it will not randomly close on you when you put the book down. The covering for the book is still a stiff cardboard that should suffice for the semester. The pages flip really easily as well. I hope it ships as fast for you but the spiral is still worth it.

Very helpful little book- my college level niece had one. After thumbing through it- I decided to get one for my high school aged son- best purchase ever!! We have used it so many time and even though they have support sites that can create works cited pages this a must have book for all the different ways that citations can be done( Chicago style, MLA etc)

Let me put it plainly, I used this book because it told us how to do Chicago style the way my Professor wanted it. On my own I would not use a printed style guide. The MLA, APA, Chicago and all other styles of writing are constantly changing and updating so anything printed today will be out of style tomorrow but for a printed guide its okay, layed out and color coordinated so you can find what you need. The only problem I have with it is that the ring that holds the book together can get twisted up or around and that got annoying as well as causing me to tear a page.

My school requires all English students to have this and for great reason. It explicitly explains paper writing tips, research and organizational help, and citation examples and explanations for MLA, APA, Chicago Style and others. One time when I wasn't using it, my mom used it to help her with an APA style paper for Nurse Practitioner school, while the lady that usually helped her was grieving the passing of her husband, and found it easier to understand than the other lady's face to face conversations. she asked for this book directly for a gift. Awesomely helpful resource!

I purchased this book for my course, when I received the book it was in very good condition. unfortunately For me i had to return the book because my professor changed our text at the last minute. This company was very helpful through the whole process from the purchase to the return. They were very prompt in answering my emails as well as crediting my account back for the return of the item. I would definitely recommend then and I would use them for my future purchases.

This handbook is very thorough and concise. You won't have a hard time finding what you need in this book. The only problem I have with this book is how flimsy the pages are. It's so easy to ripe out the pages. Just a slight turn of the page is enough to rip it out if you're not careful.

This is a book that my daughter was required to buy for her university English literature and language degree course. I have not read it my self and she has no complaints; it arrived punctually and as described.
