Words cannot express what an invaluable resource this is.
There is more to writing a book than developing a concept, working out the bugs and editing the flow. In and of itself that is a big job. But it is not the only one. Whether self-published or working with an editor or agent, a new journey awaits. One that at least at first, includes navigating through a new vocabulary. This book is a valued traveling companion. One I, as a new writer, I would not wish to be without. With this book, I feel informed and able to develop, debug and flow with the business end of my writing career.Thank you NetGalley for sending The Language of Publishing my way!

A useful collection of terminology
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.A useful collection of terminology for authors and publishers. A bit of a dry read but I suspect it will be an excellent future resource.

Teaches self-publishers the industry lingo.
As a successful author and self-publisher, I am always looking for new references relevant to my business. I like "The Language of Publishing" because it gives quick, yet definitive definitions and backgrounds for terms like review copy, pass-along readership, and coil bound. There is always more detail than I would have expected - for me, this book fills in the blanks of what I don't know I don't know. This reference is especially helpful for those needing the industry lingo of print books.
