Best book for research on fiber arts!
Fantastic book with exceptional insights into the historical use of fibers and cloth! I was looking for information online but couldn’t find enough details about early textiles, Barbers book gives archaeological information and shows photos and diagrams that explain the methodology. If this information interests you too then worth the investment!

THE book on the history of textile-making
Eliabeth has written the most detailed, the most thoroughly researched and the most comprehensive book on the history of spinning and weaving that exists. And her writing is easy and approachable. Lots of pictures. One I refer to again and again. The Bible on this subject.

Dieses Buch war mir im Rahmen einer Recherche aufgefallen. Jetzt wollte ich es selbst haben, um darin schmökern zu können.

Wonderful detail.
If you have the slightest interest in textiles in ancient societies, you can't be without this book. There was so much information about ancient textiles lost in the past because archaeologists aren't, as a rule, knowledgeable about it. This book addresses that yawning hole and in some cases, can give you enough information to reproduce some of these textiles - the belt from the Borum Eshoj grave for example.Even for textile persons not particularly interested in archaeology, this book will offer much.
