My 10yo trains our dog, she recently started her own side hustle helping train dogs in the neighborhood and asked for a few books. She loves it.

I loved this book. It was a great book. My puppy caught on almost immediately when I followed this book.

If one has even a smidge of experience with dogs, this book is not very helpful.

Easy to use while training. Well written and creative. Glad we bought it, we will use it as the pup grows!

Since dog training has become one of my hobbies, I very much enjoy learning about dogs and dog training; I LOVE Teoti Anderson’s podcast “Get Pawsitive Results,” and in preparation for bringing home my new Australian Shepherd puppy, I was in the market for a dog training book that included at least one section that focused specifically on young puppies rather than just training in general. Although I have a few criticisms, over all this book met my expectations.I read this book during random spare moments rather than all at once, but I could not help noting a few repeat errors in the Kindle edition that were a bit frustrating. Also, Some topics seemed sort of out of order – the layout and flow of the book are not entirely cohesive. Numerous times, concepts or cues are introduced that rely on other, more basic concepts/cues that are not discussed until later points in the book. As a reader, if I wasn’t already familiar with those concepts/cues, this would have been very troubling to me. And I hate to sound nit-picky, but the advice to seek professional help is the basic solution offered for most of the problem behaviors that are discussed in the book. I’m not saying that’s not great advice; I’m just saying the title of the book is perhaps a bit misleading on that front.Nonetheless, I know this book will serve as another helpful reference for me in the near future, when my puppy finally comes home. I am admittedly a bit nervous about puppy training (in part because I have not had a puppy of my own in almost a dozen years), but Teoti Anderson always makes it all sound so logical and (relatively) easy. This book provides good, basic information on dogs and dog behavior for those who may not have ever had a dog before, and there is also straightforward training advice with step-by-step instructions that are great even for those of us who have some experience with dogs.

I have very little knowledge of training a puppy. As soon as I read this book and applied the steps into our training sessions, my pup has improved a lot!! AMAZING
