6 years later, they did the job...Fixed my Beats EP...
Purchased this product in 2018, to replace the jack on my Beats EP. The original Beats EP had an issue with the cable fraying at the jack. Unfortunately locked down happened and project got put on the back burner. Eventually, forgot about it.Fast forward six years and I'm doing some house cleaning and find both the Beats EP and this product. My brother purchased a soldering iron from amazon for me for this DIY project. I purchased a soldering station and a heat gun kit from amazon. I've never soldered anything before, so it was an adventure. It took me 8 tries and 4 of these jacks to get it right. If i knew what I was doing to start with, then it would've been a one and done.So these jacks worked great. DIY adventure was great as well. Sorry for taking so long to submit a review.

Not as hard as I thought
Shipping was timely and product arrived on promised date. My boys have been murder on their game system headphones. One headset back in use after getting this product. Some have commented that there are only 3 sleeves of shrink tubing. they are long enough to be cut in half and still go past the metal collar when assembled. Would be nice to include one piece of paper to map the device but was included in a photo before I bought the item. Pads are small for soldering but I watched a couple youtube videos and planned my wire lengths and tinned in advance. Moderate to easy with planning. remember to put the collar on the wire before attaching the plug.

Its nice to have a solution to the headset problem
My purchase arrived in two days as advertised. The repair of the head set was completed in a 30 min process. I like the feel of the heavier metal casing to the connector. I also utilized the thin soldering provided as the stuff I had on hand was thicker, which required addition heat/time. So I ran through several temporary connections to verify the Left and Right channels, Ground and Microphone. This was accomplished by prepping the colored wires with an emery board. Once the ends of the wire get a clean copper color hit them with a dash of solder. Skip this step and you'll get frustrated. Then hit the contacts of the jack with a dash of solder. AT THIS POINT put the heat shrink and jack cover on your wire! Then I ran an audio left / right file through You Tube while wearing the ear buds to validate my left and right channels/ colored wire. The previous soldered ends makes the final soldering easy peasy. Slide the heat shrink insulation up to the base of the jack and cover the wires. Apply your heat and shrink it. Slide up the cover and rotate to tighten. I then completed and audio recording to test the microphone and play back to test the left and right channels. Enjoy the audio.

No labeling for soldering points
These jacks are sturdy, and made to last. What makes want to give them such a low mark is that they were shipped with no labeling as to where the L, R, Mic, and ground should be soldered. You will have to test them. No tip is standard...you think they would be, and that the headphones you are replacing would have universal color coded wiring. Not true. Be sure to have a way to test where the power will go. I would have given these a one star for lack of labeling, but they are of solid materials.

Works perfectly
I tripped on the cable for my headphones while getting up off my chair and the headphone stand dropped, which was the thing my headphones were plugged in to. The original connector broke and they sounded all tinny and messed up. I bought these with amazon same day, soldered them on and I was back in business just like that. They are a pain in the a$$ to solder but if you do it correctly, they'll work absolutely flawlessly. bonus points because they give a bunch of color options and I personally think it actually looks better than the original connector. also, pro tip: if you're soldering these to headphones that don't have a mic, you can make soldering a bit easier by connecting the ground wire to the mic contact (shown in photo) and then since the mic contact is coupled to the screw chassis, you can make a solder joint between the dedicated ground contact and the side of the part that screws together (shown in photo)

Works!
Used this to fix my son's headset, after the tip broke off inside his laptop when it was dropped (yes, the laptop still works too). Fortunately I found instructions online for which wires to solder to the four soldering points in the plug, because I didn't have an intact plug to use for testing. The soldering is a bit tricky. The parts are small so you will need a soldering iron with a small tip, and be sure to clean and tin the wires first. Despite all the warnings, it worked at my first attempt, so if you are uncertain, do your research then go ahead with the repair. It comes with no instructions besides the description on Amazon, so you definitely need to do your own research. There are many youtube videos and websites that can help you for most popular models of headsets. I used it for a HyperX Stinger gaming headset.

A pain in the royal posterior to solder, but they do the job and don't melt or disfigure from the soldering heat.
A pain in the royal posterior to solder, but they do the job and don't melt or disfigure from the soldering heat.I injected a 2-part epoxy into the cable opening after closing it up to keep it from coming apart, then heat-shrinked it, and it has continued to work.I used it to make a custom balanced cable for Hifiman HE400i/s headphones and the Hifiman Supermini DAP. Did the job and cost a few percent of what the manufacturer's cable sells for.

Very decent plugs.
I use these for a little different application but the insulating plastic holds up well to the heat of soldering (if you know what you are doing). That can't be said for all brands of plugs available in this style. All 6 plugs included appear to meet spec. (they all fit properly in 3.5mm socket). The addition of heat shrink, solder and the tweezers are a nice touch. These will likely be a challenge to assemble for those who don't have any soldering experience. 6 pretty good quality plugs for this price is a very fair deal. Just wish they came in a 6 pack of all black or silver rather than the rainbow of colors. Aside from that, these are pretty good.
