Good dry brush effort
I've been looking for a decent set of dry brushes for what seems, forever. I'm a fed up to my back teeth of having to buy brushes and then cut them down to make a dry brush. And the along comes Army Painter with three decent quality dry brushes that, while answering a need also managed to illustrate what a complete muppet I have been. Rather than buying sable brushes at premium rates and then cutting them down, all I needed to do was to buy a half decent (and considerably cheaper) set of make up brushes. Now, to be fair, make up brushes are not designed for paint - regardless of the oft used comment about women and war-paint. But - there is great variation in make up brushes. Thick ones, thin ones, dirty great big ones and small fine detail ones. All of which to all intents and purposes would make ideal dry brushes for a wide variety of tasks. I won't say perfect because the density of bristles on a make up brush is not ideal and they are usually manufactured from man-made materials not natural like sable or goat hair. These from Army Painter are perhaps as close to a "perfect" dry brush as you are likely to get. They are good quality, decent bristles, nice level of pack with the right kind of soft movement that is desirable for a good dry brush. I have since purchased a couple packs of make-up brushes so I have brushes for the majority of tasks I do, and I will treasure the Army Painter brushes for their quality and because they made me see the light - when it was right in front of me all the time.

Update: I’ve found a really good use for these
Would have been better just buying £1 make-up brushes from the pound shop. The quality of these brushes feels really cheap and plastic.Edit: ok, I think I was a bit harsh when I first bought these for my wife, I decided to give them a go on my MacFarlane Intercessor as the method of painting these is very different from how you would usually paint a 28mm mini. You need to treat these dry brushes very differently to how you would use a regular dry brush too and the effect they give you is completely nothing like other dry brushes I use. They are especially good for large flat areas and I’ve found the bristles clean up very well after use even though they are white. Despite being very rough with them I’ve found they have stayed together really well so far with minimal bristle loss.I’m very pleased with this product now I’ve used them myself and I’m looking forward to using them in my next tank.

Get it
I was between this and a more "name" brand of drybrush but honestly couldn't justify the price of the other one.So, I've had these a wee while now and they are holding up pretty well with semi regular use, would recommend you grab a set for your hobby needs!Basically use them with a damping pad (like a wet sponge) and load up the bristles with paint before wiping off the excess and begin drybushing whatever it is you're doing.Like any brush make sure not to get a load of paint stuck in the ferrule and periodically clean them through with brush soap .

A New Approach in Design
These brushes for 'dry brushing' came as a pleasant surprise. The designs I have used up until now have been based upon short stiff bristles. They were adequate but sometimes the design let to the base coat of paint actually being scraped off. These new designs are based upon a softer rounder shape. As a result, there is no danger of scraping and the amount/strength of dry brushing is achieved through simple pressure. The set of three brushes is designed to cover all the requirements from individual figures to model landscapes. My only gripes are relatively minor. Firstly, the smallest individual figure brush could be smaller. There can be a bit too much ''overlap' requiring touching up. Secondly, at least currently, the brushes only come in sets of the three sizes. As the smallest brush gets the most use, it will wear out before the others necessitating the purchase of another, triple, set. Not very economical. Perhaps, once the design is established, the brushes will be sold separately. This would certainly be a boon. However, all in all, these are excellent items and highly recommended.
