Knitter-s Pride Pattern Holders, Magma Large Pattern Holder

Way more than I expected. WOW!
This pattern holder FAR exceeds my expectations!! The packaging was good without being excessive and wasteful. The damask cover was luxurious and attractive. I was impressed with the size (see picture with my hand and pillow to scale). I was initially taken back by the price, but I would highly suggest spending a little more on this larger size, than the smaller. You can always put smaller patterns on this one, but it can accommodate full size sheets of paper. The magnets work great and both hold the corners and keep track of what line you're on.It will stand on it's own (on a non-slippery surface). The straps keep it from collapsing; and, as you can see have 2 adjusting snaps for 2 angles. But, again, it isn't flimsy at all and will stand on it's own; especially if you put a dish towel under it if it is a slippery surface. The pocket and ball point pen, and pen holder, on the opposite side were a complete surprise! I must have missed it in the description, but it was a nice addition I didnt expect. It's a great place to put that pen that always rolls away, or falls in my couch when I need to mark my spot. The pocket is deep enough to hold other patterns, needles, you could squish some yarn in there, or some scissors, tape measure....all sorts of things. It has a velcro closure to secure and is pleated to give you a little extra room. It wont replace your knitting bag, but it's great for stashing a few "things you need just for this project on-the-go."I buy things on Amazon all the time, and only occasionally leave a review. That's because I expect what I pay for, but every now and again, I am surprised and need to share my enthusiasm. This is a must have! I am starting to knit lace (I'm still a newby... okay...I'm barely intermediate) but this should help me tremendously in improving my accuracy. Missing steps, and losing my place have been my biggest downfalls. I use "life lines" but if you can keep track BEFORE you ever make a mistake...then you don't have to RIP out your work.I am excited to see how it works!

Great for charted patterns
I use this to keep my place when using charted patterns. Much better than marking off rows as they are completed.

Great for Non-Knitters Too! :)
I'm a crocheter, and this pattern holder is awesome!Such a simple concept, but absolutely ingenious!First of all, it's sturdy. In side isn't some flimsy backing, but it's got really strong innards here! Although it's not indestructible, I'm not afraid of bending or breaking it accidentally through normal use. The black brocade is very classy looking and the holder doesn't look cheaply made. The snaps are high quality and give the holder an almost quilted look. Magnets and strips are strong, and I'm sure you crafty folks can fashion different magnet holders if you want more or happen to lose the ones it comes with. The magnets that came with the product are excellent. The item is a smidge larger than a full-sized magazine and fits in a tote bag with ease. Or in the side pocket of a recliner! The holder follows everything in the item description to a "T" and I am absolutely thrilled with it. I've been crocheting for 40 years and asked myself "Why haven't you bought this years ago??"This would also be a great gift for anyone who enjoys embroidery, latch hook, plastic canvas, woodworking or anything that requires reading a pattern. Heck, I'm tempted to get another one just to use in the kitchen and hold my recipes while I cook! Hope you all enjoy this holder as much as I do!

Not exactly what I was looking for
I thought that this would not only hold the pattern for my current project, but also hold other patterns in the pocket. The pocket is too small for that. It is very good for holding and protecting the pattern that you are working on though. There is a pocket to hold some things, so if you are going to be gone for a few hours, you can pack this with scissors, some floss and your pattern and use it for the day.

A handy tool for holding patterns
I’ve been using this for a few days to hold patterns/charts while knitting. It seems to be adequately sturdy for this use and stays in place while I move the magnets up or down the rows on the pattern. The magnets aren’t super strong but are holding so far. I’ve added a couple magnet strips that I bought from Amazon previously to hold the page more securely. I’m not sure I will use the zippered pocket on the back or the pen but those don’t interfere with the intended use of this chart holder.

Great size - really strong magnets!!!
I wasn't sure how well this would work. Was very pleasantly surprised. There are large magnets and smaller ones -- great for if you have a pattern with repeats. You can put the large magnet on the line of the pattern you're on -- then say you have to repeat line 23 to 26, you take the smaller magnet and place it next to the line you're actually knitting! Great size. Will stand up or lay flat. LOVE IT!!! Will be great for traveling as well!

Some flaws...
I love this pattern holder but one of my dislikes is the long magnet did not stick to the board very long. (Less then a day) I am having to replace this magnet with something else. Otherwise the case is sturdy.

GREAT!
I use this everyday to put my patterns on while working on them. It is a great handy gadget and I am able to travel with it if needed. I would recommend this!

Nearly Perfect!!!
I love this!! Before buying this I was using just a clip board and I kept making mistakes because I kept losing track of what line I was on! My only wish was that the long magnet was a little stronger because if you hit it, it will move out of place!!
