Oil rubbed bronze
Honestly I tried to kid myself. I thought it was going to be more of a "brown" type of bronze.Don't be fooled by the name though it is quite dark but also the pictures available are enough to show you what you're in for. From far away or in dim light it will look like a very dark brown borderline black. The top of the can is the color and the amateur picture posted is a good example of what you'll see unless the paint is somewhere bright. After staring at the paint for a while I began to enjoy the color(or possibly because i was hell bent on not repainting!) You can see the glimmer and shine expected with bronze and that's what I think makes it beautiful.

Disappointed in color
Excited about all the positive reviews but very disappointed. It is a VERY dark color, pretty much almost black. I was hoping for something that would look closer to the venetian bronze look.OK, addendum, here - now I see there is another can that looks similar that is ANTIQUE bronze that has the same set of reviews, but the cap color looks more brown. (Zoom the label on the can in the picture to verify before you order; I got the oil rubbed bronze & it is the one that is almost black). I just ordered the antique bronze & will post an addendum when that arrives to see if it's a closer match to venetian bronze fixtures I have.Update: "Aged Bronze" is more like venetian color. Just used oil rubbed bronze to update old white metal patio furniture. Looks really nice outside - dark brown. Difference (duh) seems to be bright light; in darker room "oil rubbed" looks almost black. Both are nice colors with lot of sheen.

It's magic!
We hit Habitat for Humanity at least once a week. I found 4 garish brass ceiling light fixtures that I knew had potential (my husband thought I'd lost my mind). I ignored him, brought them home and got to work on transforming them into stylish, up to date fixtures and was able to take down all the old "mushroom" ones in the bedrooms. I've been trading out fixtures in all the bathrooms to oiled bronze so thought I may as well stick with the theme in the bedrooms.I did have to prime the fixtures first. Then I added a coat of black matte spray paint. Then topped it off with the Rust-Oleum metallic oiled bronze. You cannot tell that the fixtures started out as bright brass. They look fantastic and match perfectly all the store bought fixtures I paid a lot for.If you want to make something old look new again for a song, second hand stores and a can of Rust-Oleum is the answer. I did wait a few days for the paint to completely cure so as not to mar it while installing the lights. It cured to a really hard finish.I did all 4 lights for under $20 (including the price of the paint). Now, that's a bargain!

Rustoleum preffered over the Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze
Yes, I agree with the other reviewer who says that this is more of a rich black than the Krylon. I tried Krylon first and tried this one second, and while neither of these is not a bronze color, for those of you that are disappointed about this, it is definitely a richer almost reddish black, but mostly seen when compared to a truly flat black. Even if you are looking for a black color, I would recommend this over straight black as this is a warm rich black and just perfect when I sprayed my old fireplace brass fronts. I wish reviewers could upload pictures to demonstrate their projects. The Krylon seemed more cool black. Caveat, I just realized I did do a base coat of Rustoleum Chestnut, because I wanted to see what that color would look like first, so that could have altered the final coat, however I would think that would come into play ver little. Although if you have a larger project and you think you would need several coats anyway, this is not a bad idea to layer a warmer color underneath, if that is the look you are going for. Happy painting!

Really nice color
It's a little darker than I expected, but I really like it. And the price was a little high, but this just isn't in stock in the local stores. I spray painted knobs for a dresser and a lighting fixture with one can, several coats for all. The items look really good, so I've very happy and can't complain about the price. I'll be buying more soon.

Does a nice job covering hardware
I bought the Oil Rubbed Bronze metallic spray after reading about it on a DIY website to paint cabinet hinges and pulls and lamp hardware. Nice even coverage with several light coats (back and front) and the pulls' screws didn't show much wear when the hinges were reinstalled. I punched screw diameter holes in cardboard and placed the screws in the holes so I could spray the heads.

Black, not bronze
I had read that this paint looked black but ordered it anyway. I am attempting to paint my old brassy rusty kitchen island fixture . The coverage is great but it is black. I don't want a black light fixture. Will order a different color, I suppose.

Worked nicely
Is definitely Oil Rubbed Bronze not Venetian Bronze which I think looks the best but would probably be impossible to mimic with spray paint. Did the job, great match to Oil Rubbed Bronze, saved me a lot of money, and is holding up nicely. Mostly used it on bathroom hardware.
