Just OK, better options, runs small
I purchased this and a full throttle life jacket. Both are youth 50-90lb sizes. The Stearns runs considerably smaller. It its my 49lb son perfectly; but if he gains 10-20 lbs it probably would not fit. The Full throttle fits but has much more room for him to grow into. I also don't like that the jacket is opn to the foam material. I could see sand or other stuff getting in there. Additionally if you want to add a crotch strap to prevent th jacket from ridding up when in the water you can't do that because the straps you see in the front run on the inside of the jacket in the back. Therefore there is no attachment point on the back of the jacket for a home made crotch strap.Pictures show the Stearns, Full Throttle and West Marine youth life jackets. The Full Throttle and West Marine are identical just with different brand names. One picture shows how on the back of the Stearns there are no attachment points for a crotch strap.

Defective and oddly small
My daughter's smaller lifejacket (30-50pounds) was getting too snug so we ordered this item based on the reviews that said this larger size fit snug. This lifejacket is for a 50-90 pound child HOWEVER we could barely even zip it on her. It was smaller than her 30-50 pound lifejacket. She's 5 years old and 46 pounds and very slender. I am not sure if these are defective or what but definitely not for a 50 pound + child.

Please read all the reviews about sizing! I bought ...
Please read all the reviews about sizing! I bought this for my daughter who is barely 50 lbs and has a chest size of 25 inches. The jacket is rated for 50-90 lbs, chest size 26-29 inches. It barely zips up and is really tight on her - far tighter than my other kids' life jackets even accounting for the fact that we want a snug fit and no ride-up for safety. I'm keeping it because it will work for the current trips we're taking, but check carefully if your child is anywhere on the size range other than the very, very smallest size.
