My tarmac drive and Indian stone flagged patio have large amounts of moss growing on them. So do the concrete roof tiles on my bungalow. I have used various proprietary moss killers in the past but I have large areas which makes them very expensive. I vaguely remembered reading about Iron II sulphate and looked into it. I've only tried it on the driveway so far but, within 24 hours all the moss has turned black (it actually merges into the tarmac). I'm hoping it will lose its grip and get rained off. I'll try it on an inconspicuous bit of sandstone to see if it leaves 'rusty'; stains. I'll have no qualms about using it on the roof once the weather improves.

I've used Iron Sulphate as a Moss killer and for Rhododendron pick-up for years : it works well.But : when dissolving into the water, in cold or warm, this product/brand left an amount as solid "sand" - which clogged the spray of the water-can, with a lot of bad language !I had to dissolve a bucket full with hot water, and then put it through a filter before spraying.
