Great product... aside from absorbancy
Sigh... what can I say about these? I had high hopes for them but after using them during my last cycle I was pretty disappointed. The pros to these tampons is that yes, they are organic, they are chemical free, there are no pesticides, and they are biodegradable. All great things. The applicator is cardboard, which is great for the environment, and I didn't have any issues with inserting it like some other users wrote in their reviews. Also the sleeve that holds the tampon and applicator was made of biodegradable material too. The tampons were very comfortable (a little longer than your average tampon, but who cares, you never see them anyway), insertion was easy, and its better for my health than any of the commercial brands on the market. My one issue with these tampons unfortunately is their absorbency. Not only do they leak, but they don't expand. For my entire cycle I had to wear a liner in addition to these tampons.... yet the whole point in using a tampon is to avoid liners and pads. I would recommend this product more for light flows if anything. As of right now I had only used it during that one week and I was just not happy with them. If I had a heavier flow it would have been a disaster. Unfortunately there are just not many organic tampon brands to choose from but I do plan on trying this brand again in the Super tampon size to see if they absorb better. If they don't I'll just have to move on and try other organic brands. After reading about all the chemicals and toxins in commercial tampons and their plastic applicators its hard to see myself going back to those, and cups are just out of the question, but I'm sure I'll come across a better organic brand. I gave this product 3 stars because of the following: theres nothing bad in it for your health, its not bad for the environment, and application was easy and simple. Had it just met the absorbency standard for a typical regular tampon I would have given it 5 stars without a doubt and a raving review, but at least for me, without good absorbency its just not usable. Hope this review helps!

I'm actually sold on these. I am an informed consumer who does a lot of research before buying anything. I have used several brads, kotex u, Tampax sport and a few others. These tend to be short and expand on width. The SG ones are much longer and slightly expand with width. Overall I would recommend these. I'm not sure what the connection with these and cramps are. My own experience has been favorable. I had cramps with regular ones and not with these or much less severe. I haven't experienced any leaks or accidents. Would be a 5 if not for the snug applicator.Pros1. Organic2. Length3. Comfort while in use is good. I don't notice I'm wearing one.4.No plastic5. The string is long enough as not to get "lost"6. The packaging informs which end to open7. No smell from item as some of the other brands have a weird odor to the odorless ones.Cons1. Snug applicator. I've never dropped them. I found that if you roll the point where the two ends meet in the middle with some pressure, it makes using them a bit easier.2. 16 in a box (wish high count)3. Cardboard applicator can be harder to insert at the beginning and end of period. Cardboard has more friction than plastic.

The best!
Once I read about the toxic chemicals we introduce to our bodies using other well-known tampon brands (for 24 hours a day/5-7 days a month/84 days a year), I immediately switched to seventh generation and have not looked back! They work just as well as the other brands, and seriously make me feel soooo much better about what I am putting in my body.Cannot recommend these enough. Please ladies consider:"Today, most cotton is genetically engineered (GE) and soaked in pesticides as it is not a consumable product. However, inserting a GE cotton tampon into your vagina several times each month may be worse than ingesting pesticides from GE food, considering the highly permeable nature of the vaginal wall. A woman's vaginal tissue is far more permeable than the rest of her skin, making women especially vulnerable to chemicals and other irritants that are pressed against these susceptible tissues for hours at a time. Vaginal tissue is full of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels, making it a direct entryway for chemicals to the rest of your body. The ingredients that make up the fragrance added to some of these products, which fall under the category of cosmetics, is also unregulated.Once again, the FDA does not regulate the ingredients and they do not require those ingredients be released to the consumer."

Purchased for my wife. Free and clear with organic cotton!? yes please. Personal health is very important to us, and tampons are something that can be filled with all kinds of nasty things. That is not something you want to put in your body. That is why is product offers a much safer alternative to your mainstream cheapo tampons.Yes you might spend a little more, but you pay for the quality you want.In my eyes, this is the way to go, keep you body healthy in every aspect of life, and yes that also includes tampons.Con.Now this is what my wife has told me, i do not have any personal experience, as i am male. She says these tampons do not seem to stop the flow as well as the mainstream cheapo, chemically loaded tampons do. I do not know what the difference would be. Size? do the chemicals in the other brands make the cotton more absorbent? i do not know these things. She would have to use an extra one then she was normally used too.Just something to keep in mind when purchasing.
