I have read almost all the books in An Underestimated Novel series, and I’ve also seen this book pop up a few times on my recommendation list, but I didn’t make the connection until I recently decided to reread Megan’s story in AUN series. Once I realized what this book really was, I couldn’t wait to dive into the story!Viddy is someone who you wouldn’t think would be queen of a dark underground world, but she ends up being just that. Viddy starts off as a gutter rat who finds herself working as a runner for a very bad guy. But the bad guy and everyone who works with him, underestimates Viddy. All they see is her body, not the smart, cunning, and brave soul inside. Because of the demons she has had to fight through, Viddy is a lot stronger than she looks.I was sucked into this story form the very first page. Mostly because I couldn’t wait for her to finally see her brother again after like 13 years. But since that didn’t come until the end, I got sucked in for different reasons. Everything about Viddy was what made me keep reading. I wanted to make sure she got her happy ending.Another amazing story by @authorcandicewright I can’t wait to read more of her books on the future ♥️

A victim she is not
-MFM-triggers-HFN-stand-alone but does have characters from the underestimates series present-low steam-single POVI’m really struggling to rate this book. When it comes to our lead female, Viddy, I love her. She has been a victim since such a young age. She’s lived through hell, but does she have a victim mentality? Absolutely not. Everything she’s been through has solidified the strength in her. She’s quick to throw herself into harms way to protect the innocent from the monsters in the world, even if that makes her a monster as well. She’s not scared to take a life, especially to protect someone. I’m not gonna lie, she got me in my feels a few times, especially at the end when we hear the letters she wrote her brother all those years ago as an innocent child who was thrown into the fire by the person who should have protected her from the world. The book starts out with her as a child, and we get to see her story unfold from there. A few chapters as a child, a few as a teenager doing everything she can to survive on her own, to then as an adult who has plans to take over the criminal empire she was forced into. You see her collect loyal soldiers who become her family left and right. Even if she considers herself a monster, there’s a purity/innocence to her that can’t be missed, the way she protects those without a second thought given. You’ll fall in love with her. What im not quite happy with… the relationships. Viddy meets Reid when she’s just 15 years old, but she’s clearly not old enough for him, no matter how mature her body looks. They don’t have much to do with each other because of her age, but the connection is there from the beginning. When she turns 21 and is officially thrust into the criminal underworld, all bets are off and she’s fair game. I honestly expected their relationship to progress from there, but other than a few encounters of sexual tension over the course of a year, and the times that Reid comes to her in instances of needing to have his wounds patched up, we really don’t see much interaction between them for the first 60% of the book. We even see her attraction to two other guys and she kisses them as well. I almost thought this was going to end up a reverse harem instead of a ménage. But then in the latter part of the book, after always saying she can’t trust the Reid’s, knowing they are loyal to the villain of the story, she admits she’s in love with the Reid Brothers. But unfortunately, we never seen them falling in love. We’re told they love each other, but again there just wasn’t enough interaction between them to really believe they could be in love. Sexually attracted to each other? Yeah. But in love? I just didn’t see it. This is supposed to be a dark romance, so I didn’t expect flowers and date nights, but I did expect more scenes that actually showed how they could be falling in love with each other. And it was just sorely lacking in that department. And to me personally, it was sorely lacking in the steam department. If im reading a ménage or RH, the group scenes are my jam, so I was really disappointed we didn’t get one of those with Viddy and the Reid’s. As a matter of fact, we only get like two bedroom scenes. I need more. Now, if the author wanted us to focus more on the action/criminal side of the story rather than the romance, she succeeded.I also would have liked a little more information on the criminal world she’s involved in. It was all pretty vague. Let me be clear, the story of Viddy rising from an abused child to a badass woman hell bent on taking over to gain her freedom, was great. Like I said, you’ll love Viddy. But, the relationships were very lackluster and the actual details of the criminal underworld needed to be fleshed out a little more. Were there parts of this book that was OTT? Well yeah. Viddy lived on the streets since she was 15 and she never said she had any type of training or anything but yet she can handle weapons well and fight pretty well. I’m not saying you can’t be good at things without professional training, but the amount of skill she has was a little unbelievable when we know she’s never had any training what so ever. But I can overlook that because I want this innocent child to decimate all the evil people in the world who would harm her or others like her. Also, every single guy she meets is in love with her. Seriously. It was kind of annoying. If I’m just looking at Viddys rise to the top as a woman with a horrible past, this book was great. But when I look at the romance side, it was severely lacking. I also wish I would have known there was character crossover from the underestimated series because I really would have liked to get more of a backstory on her brother before reading this book.Overall, this wasn’t a bad book at all, I just can’t seem to give it more than 3 stars, and I probably won’t be doing a re-read. Was it worth my time? Yes, absolutely yes. Is it a favorite? Unfortunately, no.

love it
Wow, I feel exhausted now but happy the book ended on a high note. Exhaustion in a good way as I lived the ups and downs with Gemini and her men. It was nice to read a book that went full story for once! From teens to adulthood and the drama unfolded flawlessly!! Excellent story!

Good but could be better
So let me start this off by saying I enjoy this authors works a lot and overall I really liked the storyline and the characters. I simply think on the whole this would’ve been better as a duet. There were many times that I felt the plot was moving a little too fast or I didn’t understand how she got from one point to the other or that we really didn’t get to know the characters as deeply as I would’ve liked. Specifically I wish we had gotten more with Will in cash. She set them up at the beginning to be part of the relationship and then they kind of just dropped off the face of the earth. You got to know Viddy really well I think and saw her deeper characteristics but not really for anybody else. Still a good read fun concept and mostly unique plot. Would recommend

Finally a legit fmc that earned her boss chick title! Solid 4.5
Finished this in one day. It was definitely a interesting book with ups and downs. Vida's start was heartbreaking. She was by no means innocent but even though she did bad things she had a strict code and moral compass. She only hurt bad people and protected and was a champion for the innocent which I liked. I've read some crazy dark romances where that's not always the case and it made it a bit hard to relate. There were definitely some hot scenes but the real ones didn't come until late in the book and although I understand her trauma I kinda wished more happened and more often in that department. Also I was a bit disappointed nothing came of the relationship with Will and cash. I mean I know the 2 she had are a handful but the chemistry with the others, atleast with Cash was good enough that I wished he was apart of the relationship as well. Lots of twists and turns. This was one book i can say kept me guessing. There was a bit of redundancy as far as some of the thoughts and feelings but it flowed well. I loved that she was strong and smart and earned her title of being a badass unlike other fmc in other books where they're all tough until stuff goes down and then constantly need saving. I'm also glad the questions I had about her brother were resolved. If this is the kind of writing I can look forward to I'll definitely be reading more

5* but…
I love Viddy’s FAFO attitude. She knows what has to happen and she does it, despite the circumstances. My only disappointment was that she didn’t add (spoiler) and (spoiler) to her men by the end.

Mind blown!!
The media could not be loaded. Well whoaaaaaa, what the duck Candice! How the hell do you manage to get better with every book?! Stop being so ducking awesome!Viddy is such a wonderful complex twisted herione. Throughout the whole book you are on the edge of your seat not knowing who to trust and the sexual tension had me squirming.A fantastic story that will keep you hooked and guessing until the last page. Now if you all excuse me, I need a stiff drink, some chocolate and some orgasms.

Viddy the Queen
This is a spin off from the Unseen MC books about Viddy who we hear mentioned. Her tale certainly has a very sad start with the evil Zodiac setting his sights on her as a preteen.Viddy is a tough FMC who’s had to fight to merely survive and as she’s educated herself as well as being streetwise she is a capable division head who makes the new Gemini role her own.Kai/Jude are really hot, don’t know how she manages to flirt with for so long without taking it any further.Fantastic book, full of action, one I keep reading again and again it’s that good.

Just wow!
What a story! This is what we gave been waiting for since the end of Princess of Chaos. Viddy has the strength we all wish we had, although it's gained through necessity from an early age. Her journey from the street, having escaped the nightmare that was her home, takes her through darkness, death and danger. But she does not lose her empathy for souls like hers and helps others to escape their own nightmares. In her struggle to escape Zodiac (a truly despicable man, the head of the organisation), she manages to attract and surround herself with men whose loyalty is gained by respect rather than fear. This was so absorbing, I found it difficult put it down. I would have read it in one sitting if I hadn't had to work! This is definitely a must buy book.
