Far superior to my custom orthotics
I have flat feet and severely overpronate. I have worn custom orthotics for about 10 years but as I got more athletic and fit those orthotics wit the style made stopped working. I was actually in more pain when wearing the orthotics than barefoot. I lost a lot of weight and am more fit that I have ever been., Went to a new podiatrist who automatically talked me into getting her $400 custom orthotics and she wanted me in the Brooks Beast. In no way would listen that I was not comfortable at all. So got a refund and off to an orthopedic surgeon who finally had answers and #1 for him was Spenco Total Support Insoles. I wear a neutral New Balance running shoe and he said the problem had been I had been buying shoes to fit the orthotic and it should be the other way around. The moment I stood on these insoles in his office I felt support and comfort. We trimmed them to size and my feet have been granted a new life. I get such support, stability and comfort from these orthotics. Honestly better than I ever got from custom orthotics. It is important to note these are not orthotics to be worn just for comfort. They are strong, durable and rigid meant to provide that needed support for the overpronator. There is rigid arch support with a deep heel cup that has a ton of cushioning. When I started wearing these I felt so great I exercized and walked ant least 5 miles a day for a week and overdid it. Needed a short break before easing back in. With any new orthotic you must give them a break in period. And as I said I get more support and comfort with these than with $400 custom orthotics. Another note, when I first wore these they squeaked which I read was a common thing with new orthotics. I put some moleskin under the heel which silenced it some but they just needed to be worn in and now the squeak is fully gone. I am rather stunned at what a high end product these are and also how durable. I have been suffering with pain for no one would help me get the correct orthotic and understand what I truly need. Till this doctor. Finally no more pain and no more buying product after product to try. But remember don't overdo at first and ease into these. These are very structured with a lot of support. But they will help. Let your feet and body adjust. I can't recommend them enough.

These are the real deal.
These arrived considerably late because of some problem with UPS and my feet were really hurting by the time they finally got here. I work construction. I’m on my feet all day and I get bad metatarsal pain. I’ve tried a lot of different types of insoles and they’re mostly garbage. Dr. Scholl’s is a joke. I included a comparison photo of a spenco next to the “top of the line” Dr. Scholls insole. The difference is pretty plain to see. The spenco insole is made of about 2/3 rigid plastic, with big impact absorbing cushions and a big neoprene pad under the forefoot. The Dr Scholl’s “high impact absorbing” insoles just have a small, flat, flimsy plastic insert under the arch that extends too far forward and some sections that as far as I can tell are just different colored. They feel no different from the grey parts. That combination caused me to take the impact of my stride on the ball of my foot instead of the heel/blade. This means excruciating pain. They were so uncomfortable I ended up wearing a totally different pair of shoes that weren’t suitable for work. These spenco insoles are a completely different story. I could tell that they’re quality as soon as I saw the packaging. Then the most amazing thing happened — they fit perfectly in my shoes with zero need for trimming.I’ve been walking on these for only a few minutes and already my pain has been somewhat relieved. The real test will come over the next couple days when I start a multi day demolition project at work. I have a feeling they’ll feel even better after they break in, and I’ll update this review in a couple weeks.

but this is a great product. I am a chiropractor and very familiar ...
I very seldom write a review, but this is a great product. I am a chiropractor and very familiar with several different types of Orthotics. I am very active in racquet sports and developed severe plantar fascitis. primarily left heel pain. I continued to work with it exercises, stretches etc. along with different types of orthotics without much success. Finally I tried the expensive custom hard plastic orthotics, which even after gradually breaking them in, my feet just generally hurt so I decided to search online for a better orthotic.I wanted a very firm orthotic but also one that would also cushion your feet and absorb shock. My research lead me to the Spenco Total Maximum Orthotic insole. While I won't say that it alone cured my plantar fasciitis, I will say that along with everything else I was doing it was a huge help. I have 2 pairs of the orthotics and use them in most of my shoes including my slippers. This is a great product and I highly recommend it. Remove the insoles that are in your current shoes and replace with the Spenco Orthotic.

Helps Keep Me Hiking and Skiing
I have too many problems with my feet--achilles/plantar/neuroma/nerves--yet I'm still an active person. My podiatrist fitted me for custom orthotics with a metatarsal pad, which are fine for every day use. But when I hike or ski they quickly start banging around or become uncomfortable. So in consultation with the podiatrist, I tried several brands of off the shelf insoles, including Superfeet and New Balance, both of which I've used extensively in the past with positive results. The Superfeet don't have the metatarsal pad and the pads on the NBs are spongy. These Spenco Max insoles have a strong met pad and serious arch support. So these help me ski and hike for a couple of hours in spite of my many problems. Good product for a big active guy like me. Highly recommend.
