Tremendous Workhorse
My stupidity serves to show the awesome power of this bearing separator. I bought this tool to remove a pulley from a lawnmower crankshaft. I failed to notice a set screw securing the pulley to the shaft. I exerted a tremendous amount of power. Suddenly to pulley snapped in half. My bad. If this separator had enough power to do that, it doubtless will have enough power to pull anything off of the dirtiest rusted shaft out there. Only don't be like me. Make sure to loosen the set screw first.

Got the job done,,,
Had to pull the front wheel bearing inner race off a Vanagon Syncro. Not much space between the race and the hub but was able to get this to get a grip, after I had used a generous application of heat from a propane (bernzomatic style) torch on the race, was able to attach the arms and puller and pull the race off. To get the other side race removed I had to put the bearing seperator jaws in a vice and tune them up with a rattail and flat file to get them back to sharp. Heat, install puller really tight at base of race, and pulled right off. EZPZ!Would NOT suggest buying this tool to be used a lot (like in a professional shop setting) but like the title says, it got the job done for this weekend warrior mechanic. The jaws seemed to be made from cast iron and really seemed to squish into the crack rather than bite into it.For the price, it worked just fine.

Pinion bearing
Bought this to remove a bearing on a pinion shaft. Just barely got it done. The nuts stripped under pressure - they are made of pretty soft metal. I used different nuts to get the job done. This tool, while sufficient for a one time use, probably won't last too long.

No instructions
The set was advertised as 3" and 2". Nothing on the tools measure 3" or 2". I don't have a clue what 3" or 2" means. I thought it would pull off a 3" dia bearing. No chance. I thought the wedge shape was to squeeze in between the bearing and the collar, so the puller can get a grip. There were no instructions, so I tried to modify it to work and that failed. Consequently I cannot return it. I ended up hiring a machine shop. Incidentally, there are various videos of instructions (YouTube etc), but none of them tell you what size of puller is used , on what size of bearing, nor an explanation about 'wedging in' to grip the bearing. Don't buy this set unless you know what you are doing. I dfidn't find out til I took the shaft/bearing to the machine shop
