Girl, Alone (An Ella Dark FBI Suspense Thriller—Book 1)

Really enjoyed this, loved how the protagonist developed in this story and came eventually to stand her own ground. Fab!

Main protagonist Ella Dark is introduced in the first in a series of suspense thrillers. In her late twenties Ella has been office bound working for FBI Intelligence in Washington D C on statistical and analytical matters, but her aim is to work in the field with the Behavioural Unit. Since experiencing the murder of her father when she was a child Ella has been obsessed with serial killers and she has acquired detailed understanding of previous key killers and their modus operandi.The ‘Prologue’ to ‘Girl Alone’ describes a brutal murder in a small Louisiana town and Ella is given her chance to go and investigate. Mentored by an experienced and respected FBI Agent Ella uses her extensive knowledge and her profiling skills. Within hours of arriving there are further murders, and she is very aware of how any identification mistakes or wrong-turns could lead to disaster. It is not even certain whether murders are the work of a serial killer or are there multiple killers. This dilemma is at the core of ‘The Girl’ and it makes for a gripping and compelling story.In addition to presenting an action-packed suspenseful narrative as a type of police procedural author Blake Pierce skilfully interweaves details on the background, the thinking and manoeuvring of the killer or killers. Insights are provided to what influences and drives serial killers, to identification of victims, to copy-cat murders etc. Inevitably the fiction is far-fetched, and perhaps ‘The Girl’ is rather superficial – but it deserves at least a 4-star rating.

I enjoyed the plot device and was pleased to find out that there were further books in the series.

I was gripped from the first page and read it in two sittings. I just couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next book

I am often disappointed by American crime thrillers which so often resort to making the lead detective into an unbelievable hero acheiving ridiculous acts for a quick thrill. I'm pleased to say Blake Pierce has managed to produce a fast moving, well woven story that just about managed to stay with I the realms of possibility. Having said that, there were moments where reasonabe thought processes got thrown out and I struggle with such a reckless lead agent who is meant to be a hardened well respected investigator.But on the whole I enjoyed Girl Alone from start to finish.

Super detailed in unputdownable with tension and clever execution

I liked the story line, which was gripping enough to keep me going.The book falls flat on the characters, who are hard to connect with. For that reason, it was impossible for me to get totally immersed in the story.Good bones. Thrilling thriller.

A very riveting book. New suspects at every turn. Very well written, attention grabber & fast paced. Couldn't put it down. Love Blake Pierce's bo9ks.

Empecé a leer este libro en un tren y no lo pude soltar hasta que lo terminé.. Voy a leer toda la serie de este libro!!! 100% recomendado si te gustan los thrillers.. la autora sabe cómo captar tu atención con su forma de escribir.

I don’t hesitate to recommend. So refreshing to read a realistically written suspense thriller. You will enjoy how an FBI recruit and A more seasoned FBI agent work together in finding a serial killer. Enjoy how down to earth the read is and experience how difficult their journey is.

Really enjoyed this book. So much so that I have been looking for a new author (new to me) to follow and just ordered another Blake Pierce book.
