Together Forever: The Run-DMC and Beastie Boys Photographs

I remember when both these groups came out in the 80s. Both amazing. Glen E Friedman has documented more than we could ever imagine. This book captures the beastie boys and Run dmc from the getgo. If you’re a fan you’re either have it already or considering getting it. If it’s the latter don’t hesitate. As per every other great book by GEF this doesn’t disappoint.

Glen E. Friedman is responsible for capturing some of the most iconic moments from my favourite genres of culture; skateboarding, hip-hop, and hardcore. In Together Forever, Friedman gathers together his amazing photographs of RUN DMC and The Beastie Boys, focusing mainly on their shows from the 80's, but also showcasing his photos of The Beasties from the Check Your Head era, taken around L.A.As always, Friedman's shot composition, colour choices, and selection of lenses captures the attitudes of his subjects; you can almost hear the 808 blasting out from each page. As with his excellent "My Rules" collection, you can also find essays from key players of the era to put things in context when required.

Love these photos of the early days of Beastie Boys and Run DMC but I think my favourites are the Check Your Head era photos. RIP MCA and JMJ.
