Not without a backing of some sort.

Q: Do you believe this item will work with canon xh-a1s video camera? i planned on mounted the item on my wall to hold the camera.

That's a reasonably light camera, it depends on how you're attaching it. I think it might do the trick. I use it for holding light boxes and there is no problem.
