Q: Are these for nose piercings?

I wouldn’t. They have a spike at the end... and require a silicone rubber backing to stay in.

Q: Can these be used as the initial healing bar in a piercing?

That's what I used them for. Worked well. I avoided the reddish colors because they occasionally made me think my piercing was bleeding, but my body healed much better with the plastic than with the metal starters.
