It's plug and play on linux (tested with kernels 5.4 and 5.10).It seems reasonably fast.There are no leds on it to indicate link status.I tested with iperf between a pi4 and an i3 machine through two switches with the client on pi4. There was some variation, but the results in this vicinity: Full duplex, around 870 down and 840 up (mBits/sec) Half duplex, around 940 down and 860 up (mBits/sec)Lsusb reports it as: 0bda:8153 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8153 Gigabit Ethernet AdapterI dropped a star only because I would like it to have indicator leds.It works, so I ordered a second one.

I have very mix feeling about this device. I have three laptops at home and was trying to use it with all of them. All 3 are Dell but different models, was trying it on the USB 3.0 and 2.0.With Gigabyte internet all models supposed to support it:- XPS 15 got up to 800Mbps download- Precision 7750 up to 400Mbps (up to 900 Mbps if I use build in Ethernet port straight)- Inspiron 3593 up to 70(!)Mbps only. (Usually up to 200 Mbps on wifi)

Lightning took out my ethernet port. I prefer not to use wifi with my home computer so I was afraid I was going to need to replace my computer. When I found out about this adaptor, it seemed like it was worth a try. And it was--it arrived; I opened the box, plugged the adaptor into a USB port, attached the ethernet cable and was back in airplane mode with a reliable connection. It took less than 5 min. and was a reasonable price. I'm very happy.

I work remotely from home and was required to have a wired connection to my router but my laptop doesnt have an ethernet port, i was a bit apprehensive about this adapter because it is a cheaper priced one. This adapter works great and was easy & straightforward to use. The connection was perfect. No complaints at all!

I got this because I need to setup a server and I don't mind the computer being beside my router. Unfortunately, my computer doesn't have a dedicated LAN port. I was pleasantly surprised that I was getting the full advertised speed from my ISP. I pay for 360Mbps down and was getting all of that to the speed test website.I can't test the 1Gbps claim but if you need anything more than you should just buy a dedicated PCIE expansion card.

Product is doing what I need to it to do, which is to connect to the internet via the usb port. Problem is thebeing shipped by INTELCOM instead of via Amazon or anyone else. I have not had any deliveries from INTELCOM that has not had problems. In this case ALL the deliveries from Amazon were left in the front foyer instead of delivered to the doors of the apartments. If I hadn't gone down to get the mail I wouldn't have known that it was delivered. So 2 stars were taken off for delivery.

I received this product for review purposes. I tested it on two different laptops, an old Dell and a 2010 MacBook Pro. The adaptor did not do well with the old Dell laptop, I plugged it in and then it attempted to install its driver but was unsuccessful in the process making it unusable on that specific laptop.Now for the 2010 Macbook Pro it was an absolute joy using this adaptor. I simply plugged it in and it worked, as simple as that. No downgrade in my internet speed.The item itself was quite sturdy, made of an aluminum casing. It felt like a quality product even though it was unbranded.

I am not a tech person, so I can’t have any numbers to show the speed of the internet before and after. My kid was having a virtual martial art class and he was upset because the zoom video constantly froze. So I plug in the Ethernet using this adapter, and everything went smoothly after. No complaints!

I ordered this to replace my old USB Ethernet adapter as it was not very stable. This one is very well built and does not drop connections. A very solid product and would feel confident ordering other products from the same company. It was also easy to setup as I plugged it in and the ethernet cable into it and it worked right out of the box.
