Show Me What You Can Do...

I cannot believe that I forget to review this - what a fool!Steve Smith - staggering drummer; Frank Gambale - gifted guitarist and Stu Hamm - blistering bass player.This is powerful and cohesive Jazz Fusion and certainly challenges Mahavishnu and RTF - it's possibly superior in places. Yes, I mean that.These guys really turn it on and push so hard; every track a gem.If you are into the best of Jazz Fusion - why haven't you purchased this?Driving, electrifying and exceptional.Just buy this.Magic!!!!

ギャンバレがわかり易く弾き倒す、ギタリストにとって名盤。勿論ベース、ドラム、それらとのグルーヴなどちゃんと曲、バンドとしてもかなりかっこいい！ギタリストにとっては教科書でしょう。最高です。あ、ギャンバレはロック寄りのフュージョンギタリストだけど、このアルバムは聴きやすい曲が多いので、フュージョンやインスト初心者にもお勧め。

Really good fusion. The music is a little understated at times compared to other jazz/rock albums that I own. No problem though. These three guys can outright play! I was really only familiar with Steve Smith but Gambale and Hamm really get to it. Think I'll have to get some of their other material. My taste has changed over the years and I'm buying more music that's instrumental, both jazz fusion and hard rock. This album fits nicely into the mix.

If you're going to buy one Gambale recording, get this one. With Hamm & Smith on board, there are lots of odd meters and exotic sounding tonalities. The later GHS discs lack the spontaneous energy and edge of this one, as do most of Gambale's other contributions. Give this one about 15 seconds into the first cut (Bad intent) to see what I mean. Simply one of the greatest fusion discs of all time.

Great record. The three boys each shine brightly. Occasionaly I am not thrilled with the tone/sound/effects of/with the guitar...Otherwise close to perfect. The Ses (Stu and Steve) I think are illuminating slightly more so than Frank. I prefer the sound of this CD compared to Vital Information... VI is too much "old school" jazz; While these compositions Rock (even when in a jazz format). For those who enjoy the harder side of fusion, this should be in your collection.
