Flavour and texture are excellent. By itself it's quite strong but it is excellent as a garnish, eg, for quail eggs as a canapé.

The item arrived in a cardboard box with branding printed on the top.The truffle pate is contained in a nice glass jar that looks premium. There is a hygiene seal across the lid.My pate has a best before date printed on the lid of 01/23.Once I opened the jar, the truffle scent was strong! The oil and pate had separated a little but after a quick stir, it looked good.I have enjoyed the pate on toast and with cheese.I must say that the aroma of truffle is intense, but it does not come through as much in the taste. I do enjoy the texture and flavour, there is however a slight sweetness that I did not expect.I find that I only need to use a small amount of pate to add umami flavour to dishes.I think that the current price is reasonable as it definitely looks and tastes like a luxurious food product.A nice gift idea for a foodie or treat for a special occasion.

This is most definitely an acquired taste. I assumed i would like truffle pate, but alas this was too intense in flavour for me. The jar certainly looks premium. The oil had separated from the pate, so needed to be mixed before using, but I believe this is normal. The flavour is difficult to describe. We tried with pasta and on toast but couldn't really take to it. However, I put this down to individual preference rather than failing on the truffle's part. It's 6% truffle so this accounts for the intensity.

I've enjoyed using this in cooking - it really enhances fried mushrooms, for example, and isn't bad under a fried egg on toast - but not so much as a spreadable. I think this is in part because it is so sweet, with almost more sugar content than actual truffle. it isn't a surprise that the bulk of the pate is regular button mushroom and a bit of cep, with more of a heavy whack of truffle flavouring than a bulk load of actual truffle in the product, and it certainly is pungent as you would hope. All in all mediocre. Other truffle hunter products are better in my view; the truffle honey in particular is fabulous with cheese.
