Outroad 1.5 model perhaps?
This was sort of an impulse grab based solely from reviews and for comparison/contrast of other Altras, specifically the Outroad’ model. I currently have the Timp4 in a size 10, Lone Peak 6 in size 9W and the Torin 5 in 10. Again, not having tried the previous model, I didn’t have any expectations but going off of previous customer reviews. Thus after having read reviews about the newly released Outroad and its narrow fit and crossover from trail to road features, I wanted to draw my own conclusions…. So having just received them 9.5 and tried them on and worn them a bit now, they aren’t for everyone. They initially fit like a glove wearing socks. Either way with or w.o. Is on you. They remind me of a pair of minimalist Merrill’s that I have but with lots more cushion. If they came in a wide option, I think that would be the way to go for sure, I do see how complaints about the narrowness are valid even with the footshape’ space feature. Wanted to experience the evolution of this one, with the Timp 4 my shoe of choice thus far. It’s only been a few hours, so will report bacck once they’re broken in. Good colorway.

Worst Altra Shoe EVER!!!
I own 5 pairs of Timp 1.5's. They are slowly wearing out due to use. I tried the 2.0 version and sent them back. This is supposed to be a Zero Drop Wide Toe Shoe. Altra must have idiots working in design. The 2.0 was a full 1/4" to 3/8" less wide in the widest part of the toe box. I measured them with a set of calipers. Maybe not the most scientific method but it supported what my feet were telling me. Altra should be ashamed to sell this shoe. Some people (narrow feet) love it but Altra built their rep on a true wide toe shoe and it seems they have left that design behind. Please bring back the wide toe that so many of us loved!

Poorly designed. Non durable side wall
I've owned easily 5-6 various Altra shoes. I bought these specifically for a Grand Canyon hike which is purely a trail walk. They are about 7 months old and are otherwise used for running on nearby desert trail. The tread has held up well but the side wall failed 2 months ago and has progressed. I've had similar happen with another Altra running shoe. The shoes are poorly engineered. I have never had another trail or running shoe fail like these on the side walls. I am not heavy guy, 6', 185lbs. They are light, slightly under cushioned in the toe box, and disappointing in their durability.

Fit similar to other Altra shoes.
Will be buying another pair for sure.

Narrow toe box
The original Timps were the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. Undercutting the foam part of the sole at the ball of the foot was a great idea and something I haven't seen before from any other shoe company. Unfortunately the Timp 2 is a completely different shoe design with a very narrow fit. The reason most people buy Altra shoes is due to the wide toe box the used to have. The Altra brand was recently sold to a much larger company and it looks like they are moving away from a wide design. Unfortunately for ultra distance athletes they were really the only company in the wide trail running market. Other companies that offer wide shoes just sew additional material to the upper which does not work well (ex: New Balance shoes). It is unfortunate and given that Altra shoes do practically everything else horribly I question the logic of trying to compete with Nike, Asics, Brooks, etc. Altra shoes typically don't use sticky rubber (bad traction), definitely don't last long (as little as 50 trail miles) and have many other design errors like foot beds that slide forward and bunch up when wet. For a Narrow shoe Altra would literally be last on my list of options. A potential alternative could be the new Topo shoes. They aren't as wide as the original Altras but are wider than the new Altras. For people with Narrow feet they may prefer this narrow fit but honestly they would be far better off with almost any other shoe.

Big toe rubs against the top of the shoe.
The Timp 1.5 was my favorite trail shoe. I've gone through two pair. The "slimmed" 2.0 has moved toward the pointy toed shoes that every other brand makes. My big toe rubs on both the top and the inside of the 2.0. Horrible disappointment. Returned.
