it would be wonderful to have lighter weight book
This guide was instrumental to planning my trip to Thailand. It was a game changer to already have a list of vetted activities and accommodation plus the relevant phone numbers, street addresses, and websites on hand. Of course, it would be wonderful to have lighter weight book. This version is really heavy but I guess that the ebook could be a good alternative. I just wanted a printed copy in case my phone ran out of power.

Bought as a gift
I travelled in Asia 25 years ago so bought this for a young man planning an extended time traveling. I used this too and found it invaluable. I cannot comment on its accuracy but I have always relied on Lonely Planet wherever I went. I backpacked for over two years and they were my life line. Arrived promptly in good condition

Good info but as stated they don't discriminate AT ALL
Good info but as stated they don't discriminate AT ALL. Everything sounds good or pretty good so when you're making decisions about the best use of your time this is not the best guide. If you have endless time, this book is perfect for ya. I also wish it had more maps. There is address listed for places but it keeps you going back and forth between book and phone. First world problems...

Would Buy Again
I mostly navigated around Thailand for a month using my phone with wifi. This book was most useful for giving me ideas about things to do in various parts of the country without me having to do any planning. I would just look up things to do in the area I happened to be in and it is all layed out for you in an organized and informational manner.

Still great.
I purchased my first Lonely Planet, Thailand, in 1988. Carried it in my bag until I decided to live in Thailand, then it stayed on my shelves for seven years. Next month I'm going back to Thailand for the first time in 20 years, and I'm taking LPT again. Why mess with success?

but would recommend TripAdvisor or Oyster to plan specific accommodations
I bought this book to help plan for an upcoming trip to Bangkok. Overall the content was helpful, but it is difficult to navigate and confusing to find what you're looking for. It is organized by neighborhood within the city, and then broken out by places to visit, sleeping, eating, etc. Overall the information on the things to see is helpful, but the hotel and food recommendations are a bit outdated and hard to locate on the map. Can be used to structure your overall trip and to get information on where to go and what to see, but would recommend TripAdvisor or Oyster to plan specific accommodations.

Well worth the money
The perfect, must-have guide for Thailand. These guides are popular for a reason. We really read through each section we visited and found lovely hotels and sites because of it. Definitely take it with you if you're a first timer!
