Call Me Maybe

One sitting audio
Vera Hoffman is on a deadline to launch her new venture’s website and a call to customer service picked up by the unknowing Cal will be the core of this super cute and hysterically fun story. The outgoing woman puts the introvert CS rep through a rollercoaster of mishaps and emotions while developing a kind of friendship meant to surpass the end date of their business relationship.Call Me Maybe is a very nice story about finding love and destiny and the least expected place of all.Halfway through reading I went for the audio and I highly recommend it. The performances are top notch and the story is very lively that way feeling more like a movie than an audiobook. I greatly enjoyed it from beginning to end and think anyone who can do audio should do it as well.5 amazing stars

Wonderful Short Novel!
This was an engaging and fun read! I wish it lasted longer and we got to see how things went on, but otherwise it was a great read! My second book by this author and I loved her style. Very conversational and pulled me right along with the story!

My life is over
This audio book…just destroyed my heart. My brain. Every cell of my body. My adrenaline exploded with fantastic, perfect ending. My post-6 hours joker smile-face is killing me.I know my life is now officially over because I’m replaying this book Every.Single.Day. and I don’t think I can be immune to this stupidly insanely unbelievably cute Vera and Kal, let alone this helluva pain in my cheeks.

Incredibly cute!
This was fast paced. Their banter was a lot. Lol. But in a good way. I would have loved to have more of them finally together though. My gosh, I was holding my breath for them when they finally met in person. I feel like their in person love story would be the best ever!

Cute & Sweet Novella
This was a really sweet and fun novella! The audiobook is performed duet style by Luci Christian and Neil Hellegers, which really worked for the set up of the story. I enjoyed having the extra sound effects too! It really made the listening experience feel very interactive. The twists were pretty easy to guess (I didn’t love the plot line with Cal’s dad/Jule), but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment for the story. A quick and fun listen!Audiobook ReviewOverall 4 starsPerformance 5 starsStory 3.5-4 stars

Just gorgeous and utterly charming
After reading the sublime Sweet Talk, I immediately bought Call Me Maybe, but then (stupidly) got sidetracked. With the third book in the Love Lines series due at the end of the month, I knew I finally had to get caught up.Cal, is a half-Finnish, half-American IT help-desk specialist who picks up a call from an extremely frantic Vera, whose website has crashed. Through dual POVs, they spend hours working on the glitchy site, which quickly morphs into a friendship, through telephone calls, emails and texts. As they get to know each other better, their feelings grow more romantic.Once again, Cara Bastone has created the most adorable characters, complete with insecurities and anxieties but also more amazing dialogue. Seriously, the banter is off the charts from page one, and never fizzles out. I honestly didn't think I could love anyone as much as I loved Eliot, but Cal is ADORABLE with a capital A. Vera is sassy but also vulnerable, with humility and exceptional humour. The slow-burn friends to lovers made me swoon repeatedly, and, though I guessed it, there's a really fun twist. I also loved the layers to this romance, and the little Easter eggs for Sweet Talk. The final chapters left me giddy and grinning. This is the definitive feelgood romance. I cannot recommend this, or the series enough.Overall Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Heat Rating:Emotional Rating: 🙈😂🥰😊💓😢😍

Unique, funny and entertaining
Great, authentic, entertaining, and so much fun. This was my first ebook and audiobook by this author and definitely not the last. What a great audio rom-com experience. The topic was one-of-a-kind, and the way it was created was just unbelievable entertaining. The audio was hilarious, and with all the background sounds, the more than real problems with hotlines (in my case :-)), such an authentic and realistic experience. The characters were so damn cute, sweet, and funny.I don't want to spoil this great book for you.Just read or better listen to this amazing story if you haven't yet.If you like rom-coms, you'll love this book. It's definitely a must-read for you.

Cute, funny & moving
The first book in Cara Bastone's Love Lines series. These are companion novels and can be read as standalones, but you do get more out of reading these in order.Vera is having a hellish time on hold with tech support for her website. Her new business needs a fully functioning website before she represents at a business expo in a few days but at the moment, it's a mess. When she finally gets through, it isn't to the automated voice she was expecting, instead, it's Cal, the kind of awkward, kind of adorable but knowledgeable advisor. Swiftly, their simple tech support chat develops into hours of phone conversations and they're both sure there could be more to this but it's difficult to say that to someone you've never even seen.Once you get past the cringe-worthy title, this book is truly adorable. The dynamic between the two builds so naturally that you are rooting for them from the start. The humour is brilliant throughout and is a key part of making the characters so likeable. This also carries through to the side characters, like Vera's brother, Eliot, and her closest friend, Paloma; they add depth and context to the romance that makes every moment hit home. But, the suddenness of that ending can never be forgiven!
