The Thieves of Faith

I've read "The Thieves of Heaven" and have to say that this book is better. It's nice to see that the main character Michael St. Pierre develops over the course of the story and can only assume that he continues to do so in "The Thieves of Darkness", which I'm looking forward to reading.The good thing about "The Thieves" series is that you don't need to have read them in any particular order as Mr Doetsch only makes brief references to what went before without giving anything away or making you feel you should have known something beforehand for the current story to make sense.I gave it four stars as I'm hard to please! Although it wasn't the absolute best thing I've ever read but I was certainly keen to know what would happen next and I guess the whole point of a decent thriller, or book altogether, is to be kept turning the pages.I even found myself feeling sorry for the Baddie at the end!!Worth a read, especially at a bargain price.

I really wanted to enjoy this novel. The plot has plenty of twists and turns designed to keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters are all beautiful, strong, and brilliant. The locations are exotic, the action continuous. It should have been a great read. I did not get engaged with this story, or the characters. Doetsch is just not a gifted writer. He keeps telling the reader things that he should be showing us through the story. His prose is clunky, his descriptions monotonous. This was not a terrible book, but I could not suspend my disbelief for a moment. I was only looking for entertainment, not greatness. I am still looking.

Fantanstic author, full of suprizes. I thought I knew how the ending would be but I was wrong I like that. I'm looking forward to more in this series.

Well, I didn't LOVE it but the gift recipient did! Bought it as a Christmas Present! My friend is a big fan of Richard Doetsch's work!
