Yes, ours is a new item with tags. However, it does not come in the original box.

Q: At check out it says regjects from studios. is this defective?

The one I bought worked great. My granddaughter loves it.

I bought i because it was a Gund...always read the fine print and did not see that on the site. I got it for her when she was 2. She is 4 1/2 now and it still works perfectly. She takes it to bed a lot, she has told me.
