Valkyria Chronicles Remastered - PlayStation 4

Incredible game. I already owned this on ps3 and got it when the console was already dead for 20 bucks. One of the best games I played on that system.Its a great mix of strategy and action. A very unique turn based system unlike any Ive seen. The game was addicting when I played it on the ps3.As far as this version : The main bonus for me was getting the dlc episodes all included. These are nice missions that are not in the base game normally. You will not notice much of a difference in the visual fidelity but the framerate is doubled to 60 fps. It doesnt really do much for the presentation for me, beyond how great the game already ran on ps3. This is not a twitch action game so 60 fps is less important here. The textures may be a little sharper but its very hard for me to notice and it plays much like I remember it on ps3. Its not going to change the experience enough to purchase on that reason alone. The game is based on hand drawn looking artwork in motion, and this looks just as amazing to me on the ps3.Another huge reason to get this version over the Ps3 version is the loading times. It loads in SECONDS. Im referring to loading saves which is something you rapidly do in this game, unless you are a purist and refuse to do so. The game is built around saving constantly and reloading to try different tactics and can still be very hard at points.I remember the loading taking fairly long in the Ps3 version. Since its something you do often you will be wasting alot of your time reloading in that version. I would say get this version for THAT reason alone. The extra polish and DLC is just a nice bonus.If you have never played this amazing game then treat yourself to this game. I would have gladly paid 60 for this and gotten more than my money worth, when it came out on ps3. To get this was 20 or less is such a value. This is one of those hidden games that blew me away when I played it.

Valkyria Chronicles is a turn-based strategy game with a very strong story, beautiful, stylized graphics and is high re-playable. I've played through this game quite a few times and still love the whole thing. When the remastered version came out for PS4 I grabbed it immediately. Choose your squad, deploy the right forces and drive the imperials out of Gallia! This is not an action based game, though it really does have some elements of action. For instance when it's your turn and you move your character, enemies will attack if you come into their range (also works during enemy turns, your people fire on them, it's all part of strategy) which gives it a little feel for action without getting too crazy. If you like turn-based strategy games and appreciate japanese RPG style stories, just get the game, you won't be disappointed. The story will have you laughing and possibly shedding a tear or two.

I bought this for my wife, who loves these kind of games, and for days I lost her to this WWII-esque world with only the background rumble of tanks letting me know she was okay. Would recommend for any JRPG fan or tactical gamer.

Honestly its amazing if you're into turn based strategy games the story is entertaining as well.Ill be getting 4 very soon.

Case came slighly cracked in bottom corner, but nothing serious. However, the disc worked perfectly fine. Only played game for 2 hours and already hooked! Would definitely recommend.

The PS4 case showed up with a small hole on the back of the box, so not exactly proud about that. But shipping was fast, so not a bad purchase.

I will be honest and admit I did not think the game looked like it had much depth but it's seemingly linear storyline has kept my husband occupied for countless hours so I can go out, shop, and hang out with the girls to my heart's content.He's entertained and occupied with it so- yay!!

I am not a smart man, and judging by the cover and word of mouth from people who had praised the game online, I bought it on a whim because I really like games with WW2-era vibe; the focus on tanks in particular is what got me to buy. But when I popped the disk in and took my first turn, I immediately knew I'd made a massive mistake. But I carried on for several hours, learned the game's mechanics and tried to get my $30's worth. I wasn't successful. Not in the least.The gameplay is more akin to some unity-engine game you'd find on patreon, that being completely unsatisfying, clunky, and lacking any sort of depth. Rush with scout to get a gold medal, and get bronze ranks if you prefer a playstyle that isn't pure aggression. For a while I thought this game was originally for the PSP due to the small maps, rng-based and strange aiming system, but, surprisingly, the original game was on the PS3. Quite baffling when you think about it.Granted, me buying this product without doing proper research was all my fault, as if I had just taken a few minutes to Google its gameplay I wouldn't have had to type this out, but I feel like this must be written. The gameplay is not good, the plot and especially the characters feel like they were taken from someone's first story off fanfiction.net, what with how poorly they're written, and the whole thing just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

The shipping took far longer than I think it should have and even though they didn't provide a tracking number I would have expected the company to know where their product was. So that was a disappointment, but I'm not judging the game based on a sub-par shipping.The game is everything I remembered from the PS3 days. Great tactical turn based mechanics with an anime story line. Some have posted negatives on the game play, but if they didn't check out some videos first I think it's their fault for assuming it was a first person shooter mindless twitch game.This is a solid game with tons of replay if you enjoy trying to get a better score, testing different approaches to various scenarios.

Compré este juego porque tenía buenas reseñas, cuando leí que era un juego por turnos creí que sería como los típicos RPGs tipo final fantasy pero con un ambiente de guerra, sin embargo el modo de juego es muy adictivo, ha entrado de inmediato a mi top ten, tanto la jugabilidad como la historia son muy buenas. Te dará bastantes horas de diversión.

Un gran juego al que le he invertido más de 60 horas. Si te gusta la estrategia por turnos debes tenerlo.
