I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Buy it. I read it quickly because it was so engaging, and learned a ton about myself and how I want to live my life. It's not just about thinking a certain type of way (like a rocket scientist), Varol also describes ways to integrate what we learn in the book with the ways we use our minds in the real world. After reading this book: I feel more equipped to live my best life possible, and hugely inspired to fulfill my potential!

Masterpiece of Storytelling and Actionable Insights
Think Like a Rocket Scientist is a masterpiece of storytelling and actionable insights. It is refreshingly compelling and captivating (turns out thinking like a rocket scientist is useful for non-rocket scientists). Varol ties together diverse topics (actual rocket science, business, law, psychology) to illustrate nine thinking concepts and brings them to life through striking imagery, wit, humor, and stories of his time at NASA. He pulls in quotations from optimal sources to convey his points with authority. Varol builds suspense through each chapter and then silences it in ways that empower you with practical solutions. He sprinkles in the perfect amount of self-deprecation, sarcasm, and life experience. And his command of both the subject matter and the English language provides for an overwhelmingly satisfying read (e.g., perfectly placed repetition of introductory phrases to drive a point home, choice analogies, and masterful wordplay). He shows you how a concept works in practice by walking you through carefully crafted illustrations. He even organized the book to mirror the stages of a rocket. Insight after Insight. Story after story. It's brilliant. EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!

“The journey cannot end once the mission is accomplished. That’s when the real work begins.”
First of all, this is NOT a leisurely read. I read 10 pages of a non-fiction book every day. Sometimes I’ll read more if I can finish up a section or a chapter by reading a few more pages. I found myself doing the exact opposite with this book. I would look to see where a section ended, and sometimes I would only read 8 or 9 pages if the next section would take me over 10 pages for the day.The book is amazing, but it is packed with SO MUCH INFORMATION! In one ten-page block, the author covers a story about Einstein related to Pestalozzi’s principles and thought experiments. He then goes deeper into thought experiments and segues into a story about Nikola Tesla, then Leonardo da Vinci, then Galileo. Next he discusses Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger who performed an experiment that killed his cat which then leads to a lesson around idioms (related to curiosity), i.e. “curiosity killed the cat.” He then tells the story of how instant photography was invented, which is related to the curiosity of a child, which then leads to a story about a Kindergarten class. Then he brings up Einstein again and weaves that with a story about Isaac Newton. ALL OF THIS IN TEN PAGES!!!At the end of the book Varol offers some resources for readers to take a deeper dive into what they learned in the book. I will definitely be doing this, because I think, for me, it will need to take some time and study the principles from this book in order to put them into action. As Varol says in the book:“The journey cannot end once the mission is accomplished. That’s when the real work begins.”I thought this book was fantastic…I just felt a little overwhelmed by the end of it!

Full of helpful insights
Think Like A Rocket Scientist is an excellent and inspiring book that, through the lens of a rocket scientist, encourages setting and achieving big goals. It's full of facts, examples and anecdotes to help everyday non-rocket-scientists like me understand the concepts, especially around "nothing succeeds like failure."

Brilliant Thinking
Ozan Varol's Think Like a Rocket Scientist is nothing short of eye-opening! As a lifelong learner and new ideas explorer, this book spoke directly to me! Ozan is highly gifted in breaking complex matters down into simple, easy insights, and, boy, is it gripping and fun to read—even if you have to go back a bit to recalibrate! As an ontological coach, I occasionally dealt with the annoyance of having other things to do—really, just life stuff!Whatever kind of student you are, and especially if you want to be more than you are now—go, go buy it! In my life, books always arrived under my nose at the right time! For example, at university, we had sessions on trading Forex. I was interested but very scared. Later, I saw the best-ever, pricey book on Forex in my local charity shop. I try to live dangerously, so I bought it for 50p! Years later, we moved to France. Arriving weary late at night, we tried to take just one box in, but it broke on the steps. Great!Just one book fell out—"Forex..." The rest is history! It’s the same with Ozan's Think Like a Rocket Scientist! I’m shocked, shocked, to see I bought it in 2007—what! I know I read a quarter of it, but it was not the right time for me. I started again in 2023 on a trip to the USA, and now they will have to wrest it from my cold, dead hand!If thinking is your thing, like me, I think, you won’t want to be separated from it either!Give it a try, and if not, drop it in the charity shop—someone doesn’t know that they’re looking for it! Thanks for reading!
