very good light
Very good light. It was not quite what I expected when I got it out of the package. The case surrounding the light is some sort of epoxy that was poured into a mold and the light placed in it. I can only assume that this is what makes it so waterproof. I could imagine this thing falling to the bottom of the ocean and it would still work. The different connector all screw into place and they all have O-rings built into them so those would be fairly waterproof as well. The first time I tried it out, I was surprised at how warm it got. It got hot to the touch. Not to the point that you couldn't hold it but still pretty hot. I didn't think LED's would give off that much heat. I was very confident that the suction cup would hold after I tried them out. It secured firmly to the side of the boat and never even budged the entire night. It was actually pretty difficult to remove when the night was over. However, if the suction cups were to ever go bad do not expect to change them out. They are molded into the epoxy case and as far as I can tell are not replaceable. The light was very bright, almost too bright. I rigged a piece of paper to block the light that shot towards me so that it wouldn't blind me. The color is a lot lighter shade of purple than what I am used to seeing and I really don't know what that means but I figured it was worth mentioning. The real test though is what it did to my line. It made my green line shine like I had never seen before. My line looked like a laser beam. There was not question when that line moved. I will probably by another one for the other side of the boat. This the best value if you need a light right now and don't want to spend a lot of money.

An acutual UV light that works for fishing
I've got these lights on two boats. My flats boat and a pontoon, both setup for catfishing tournaments. They have great output and I'll warn you to mount them out of your line of site. They are plenty bright to mess your eyes up! In my case they were sort of a pain to figure out a way to mount them since they needed to be high up and pointing down at the rod holders. On the flats boat I scavenged an old mic stand for the parts needed to make a collapsible mount for it. On the pontoon a boat hook is pulling double duty with a light zip tied to it. In both cases it works great. They are kind of expensive, but the cheaper one's are not actual UV LEDS, so make sure you know what you are buying.

a mounting system for this does it seem to exist
I purchased two of these on the recommendations of a couple other buddies we do nighttime fishing and as you see in the photos they do illuminate white rods or anything a phescent color setting to the side of them is kind of bright in your peripheral vision but figuring out a mounting system is just ridiculous because the suction cups that it comes with is absolute trash for the amount of money that this little light cost you would think that the design would have had some type of screw insert instead of crappy suction cups that’s my only complaint with the product is the suction cups other than that I haven’t had an issue yet

Super bright!
Super bright! The description clearly states the dimensions of the unit, but I was still shocked at how small it is. Still, the light is incredibly bright. And, it covers as much side to side as at least two of any other light I've used. That's a big plus in my opinion. It's much better than the big clumsy lights I'm used to and since I can put it at the center of the boat, there aren't a bunch of wires on the deck to trip over and get rods tangled in. One word of caution: heed the manufacterer's warning not to touch the light for 5 minutes after it has been on for a while; it gets very hot! I'm thinking I might create a way to mount it more securely to my boat or mount it on something like a 4" piece of 2x4 so I can move it when I want to change fishing spots. If you fish at night with florescent line, BUY THIS LIGHT!
