Captain Marvel Vol. 6: Strange Magic

“Captain Marvel – Strange Magic” collects issues #27-30 of her latest (2019) series, issue #30 having some extra pages for a short story.This is a sequel to the previous volume, starting with an intervention by Jessica Drew to get Carol out of her apartment where she is being morose after breaking up with Rhodey (following her visit to an alt-hist future in the previous volume).Once she is up and about she sets-off to find an antidote to her weakness to magic (also an important carry0ver from the previous volume), which leads too an embarrassed meeting with Doctor Strange [caused by an earlier spoiler].This in turn leads to a journey to the Dark Side and the current home of the Enchantress, a super-villain team-up, and a resolution to the outstanding issues from the previous volume.This was an entertaining volume, very well-written and reasonably-well illustrated – I have no complaints, even though it was either a bit cartoony or a bit too CG, depending which of the artists you are looking at.There was a distinct difference in the tone of the story/scripting between the main story (female writer) and the short story at the back (male writer), featuring a MS Marvel team-up. Both were fine, but I was surprised to find the difference so noticeable.
