🌿 Grow Smart, Water Smart! 🌊
The UMLIFE automated watering DIY Kit includes 4 capacitive soil moisture sensors, 4 mini water pumps, and 4 meters of vinyl tubing, designed for efficient plant care and easy integration with Arduino systems.

Decent components for the price.
The media could not be loaded. Except for one of the sensors, all the modules that came in the kit were working for me.The sensors: By default they deliver a value around ~2500 mV. When moisture level increase the Aout drops. A good amount of moisture would push it to say ~1400 mV or lower. All the motors were functioning and was able to drive water (testing with one shown in demo).Using the elements in this kit, I was able to design a plant watering system driven by a micro-controller.Would recommend this kit for similar home automation use cases.

Okay
Honestly got what I expected. A couple of the relays were faulty and one of the sensors wasn’t working well. This is kind of expected from cheap electronics like this however. I may have just gotten a bad batch. The pump and hose were nice and worked well though.

Nice kit for the price, but relay has issues
The media could not be loaded. All the motors seem to work well, but the relay construction isn’t great. The pin headers weren’t soldered well or true. One relays doesn’t work, even trying to manually free any stuck parts. Some pumps came with noticeable manufacturing defects. As for the sensors, they are where the kit shows quality. The sensors come with a voltage regulator (chip U2) that will keep more consistent readings over a variety of voltages, like if you want to power with batteries. The timer (V1) is a TLC555I that has an operational voltage range the same as the capacitor, giving more stability to readings. Readings are fairly responsive from the sensors to an arduino, however as a good practice your code should take several readings, toss outliers, and then average the remaining readings before making a judgment to water the plants.

Great kit
The pumps are kinda weak but that’s nothing against the kit, it’s a great start.

The sensors require a resistor to work, and the relay is only set to high
After not having any sort of reading coming from the analog read, I found a review for a similar item saying they needed a 1M resistor. That was way too high. Some readings did come through with a 220 resistor but they don't change at all, just fluctuate. So the sensors are worthless. I hope I'll find a use for the relays at some point, if not, this is a total waste of money.Edit: I just tried the relay and it's set to HIGH only and you cannot change that. So if you don't supply voltage to the input pins then they stay turned on. Why would you ever want this?

3 out of 4
3 out of four relays work ..... see missing diode. 3 out of 4 sensors work. Luckily, I only need 3.
