This is a beginner violin!
I gave this violin five stars because it is exactly what I was expecting. I am an older person and have never played a violin before though I have played the clarinet. Because of asthma and wanting to still play music, I opted for the violin as it has a beautiful sound if played correctly. It came beautifully packaged and undamaged with all the appropriate pieces included in a prompt manner. It is difficult to hold the tuning on this violin but really. This is a beginner violin!! I had a slipping peg but with a little instruction from several youtubers I got it corrected to where this is not a problem currently. I will probably upgrade the bow and I am already upgrading the chinrest. This is one of the most difficult instruments to play period. I believe this is a great beginner instrument for those of us who want to try and have a limited budget. If I am still trying in a year or so, I will probably upgrade the violin itself but for the money, a great deal in my opinion.Update: Approximately 5 weeks and two of the fine tuners are not functioning properly. I have purchased a new tailpiece with replaceable fine tuners. I had planned to make some additions/changes to some of the parts such as strings, bridge, chin rest, and the tuners but hadn't planned to do it so soon. Even with this development, I am still pleased with the violin itself. Just be aware that it can be enhanced. Still a good place to start your journey as a violinist.

Arrived with broken string.
This was to be a Christmas gift. When opened it was broken. Very disappointed.Upon receiving my review, the brand's customer care initiated a full refund of the product. Still waiting for the refund. We appreciate the brand's effort to make up for our disappointment.

Good Violin, Poor Bow
The violin is great, tuned very easily and stays tuned pretty well. The bow came with some of the hair torn and hanging, so I cut those hairs off. Not all the hairs get tight when tensioning the bow, and it seems to make the sound a bit inconsistent. Rosin seems fine, and the case is awesome. Worth every penny tho.

Plays and sounds exactly like a Stradivarius
My first violin ever, I was able to get it set up fine in a half hour with help from YouTube, and I discovered, to my amazement, that it plays and sounds exactly like a Stradivarius. And for the first 500 hours or so of my playing violin, that will remain true. After 10,000 hours of playing? Maybe not. But for those first 500 hours this instrument, as long as it is set up properly (which is difficult with any violin), definitely isn’t going to be the weak point in my product.Would I feel better starting with a $350 kit than a $79 one? Maybe, but I might in turn be scared of damaging it (these are all fragile) and the investment would be at turns motivating and guilt-inducing alike. It’s the low points of the experience we have to watch out for, when you feel enough disgust to quit. Getting a new violin at the 500 hour mark will be a signal of progress and a boost of enthusiasm; if I survive that long I will also have a better idea what to look for in a fiddle. To get your instrument set up and start out with good habits maybe take a couple lessons (strictly understanding in advance what will be covered...do not pay for a lecture on how much discipline you will need to show) or perhaps better see if the old guy at the music shop will help for $20 or so hoping you’ll come back for your upgrades. A critical thing is having it be fully comfortable to play, I had to sand the “tooth” off the chin rest that was poking me in the neck and the shoulder rest took a lot of adjusting to be right.Make this about having fun developing a skill. Maybe you’ll get to 10,000 hours and maybe even wind up with a Stradivarius after all.

Not worth the money
Took my violin to my first classes only to find out there are many inherent flaws with the violin. It will not hold a tune (originally we thought it was just the strings being new, but after taking it to a violin shop there is inherently something wrong with BOTH the pegs and the frog of the bow). The violin nut (top of the violin under the peg board) also seems to be distorted, leading to the strings being slightly off.Honestly, not worth the money. This violin may be a bit cheaper than others, but it's not worth the extra price of having to take it to a violin shop only to have them tell you it's barely fixable. With the help of professionals, it has become playable. But one string still won't hold and I've had to purchase a completely different bow.Invest in something better. I sure wish I did.Edit: was given 40 compensation for broken violin
