The weighted base was some sort of sand and rubber mixture that was falling apart the moment I unboxed it. On top of that it smelled like cigarette smoke!The box containing the lampshade also had a warning that the product could expose me to lead.... What kind of lamp shade has the possibility of exposing someone to lead? lol Returning this incredibly overpriced Chinese lamp.

Did read the reviews where it was disclosed that this was a large lamp. However, still even with the measurements and reviews, did not have a good idea of HOW LARGE IT WAS GOING TO BE. While I like this design and it works very nicely for the reason I bought it (to supplement drawing table lighting), it could have been reduced in size nearly a third to a fourth and then would have been perfect. The four stars is for the difficulty of moving and positioning due to oversize and weight excess. Was a little difficult to assemble for a senior with acute arthritis.Does look nice with the bronze poles but base is black. Would have been nicer if all were the same. Arrived quickly and nice protective packaging.

I replaced an inadequate and ugly floor lamp. This lamp allows me to use a spacious end table for my necessities (iPad, phone, Kindle, coffee cup) and provides excellent light for the room and reading. I used a WiFi bulb with brightness and light quality adjustment. I assembled it myself but a 2nd person would be helpful. Excellent purchase.

This lamp is perfect for my needs. Heavy base offsets the arch so there’s no chance of tipping. I love the foot button turning the light off and on. It’s perfect for reading.

Lamps that can be used for reading are hard to find. I bought this arc lamp because it takes a 150-watt bulb, which we need for reading. I also bought it because it has a manage-able "footprint" to go next to a chair in the living room. By "manage-able" I mean that the arc is modest (some arc lamps extend for many feet!) and the shade is not huge. I also bought a foot-operated dimmer switch. Because the lamp has no diffuser under the bulb, I use a large (5" diameter?) globe-shaped bulb, instead of a regular sized bulb.
