La SportivaMens Bushido II Trail Running Shoe

I don't run much anymore (former marathon runner) but I needed a good shoe for hiking and walking my dogs on the slippery hills where I live. Hiking shoes were far too heavy. These are light weight, with excellent traction. (My dogs used to pull my feet out from under me on hills). I cannot wear hiking shoes all day--they just got too heavy, and I wore combat boots for 20 years in the Army.I missed the instruction at ordering to order a size up--I didn't, and the first shoes were too small, but I got my refund a day after I returned them to Kohls, and by then my new ones were already on their way--a size higher, with a perfect fit. These shoes are also attractive, but still masculine.

I've trail run many years with vivos, merrells, salomons and most recently altras (eww, the worst). Where I'm living now in the mountains is the most technical and steep trails you can run. Bushido II hands down the best runner for the job. I don't trust any other shoe out there. Does exactly what it says: "responsiveness, stability and comfort with bomber protection and superb traction". So glad these exist. They look dorky but no one can see them when I'm flying by hyper speed-- all caught up in the dust.Please keep these in production!

I initially order a 1/2 size up but it was way to tight. I re-order a full size up and it fits well. Love the style and quality of shoe.

I trail run in the woods of Western Pennsylvania. Clay soil, shale, and limestone rock, with a lot of exposed roots and off-camber terrain. Saw this shoe reviewed as best shoe for uneven terrain, per Runners World, so I went for them and have three runs in so far. Here are my thoughts:Overall: I have a high arch and a wide foot (11E), so was thankful for the many reviews advising to buy a half-size up in this shoe. Led to a firm, but true fit for my foot. Heel and toe fit are good. The shoe is neither ultra-light nor heavy - overall, I would consider this a light shoe for trail running.Feel: as mentioned before, you should definitely buy up by a half-size if you have a wide foot. I did this and never felt as though I was clopping along in “my daddy’s shoes”. The “sock” construction of the upper gives a lot of support to the foot. The laces however, seem about 1.5” to 2” too short for a good double knot if you have the same high arch/wide foot as me. The sole is firm but comfortable; this is not a soft shoe (which I prefer for road running), but i thought it made for a perfect sole for trail running.Performance: really great; terrific, in fact. The sole is very responsive for the tough, uneven terrain that I run on. Great support by both the sole and the upper for my foot. My foot doesn’t move AT ALL during a run, which of course is what you want. Never slipped once, even on wet rocks thanks to the responsiveness of the sole and the spacing of the lugs on the bottom. The lightness of the shoe allows you to move quickly when needed.Bottom line: these are not inexpensive shoes, but well worth the money. Don’t ignore the advice to buy a half-size up, unless you have a narrow foot. Terrific trail running shoe!

Possibly holidays delayed shipping; product took over 7 days to receive. However, it came in original packaging and looks brand new, as expected.Inside box was a professional packing slip, which included direct contact information in case their was a need to contact them. This is a detail that is worth its weight in gold, in today's world of horrible customer service.As for product, they are a top notch shoe I'm replacing my original Bushido with. They fit just as good and have excellent construction and sole design for mountain running.

My husband wears a 10.5 and he couldn't even get his foot in the shoe even though his old pair of the same model was a 10.5. Returning and ordered an 11.5 which will hopefully fit since he loves his old pair.

I am a repeat customer so I have had experience with this brand. I would suggest trying them on first as I am confused a little about the sizing changes on the different varieties they offer. If you want a comfortable shoe, very lightweight not like the old clunky hiking BOOTS, durable, made from synthetic materials mostly, good treads, good arch support, good cushioning, etc.I had to go up 1.5 sizes and I will explain why, but partially my feet got bigger from not wearing shoes for a long time as we have no shoes stores in my county only Walmart and we used to have a Payless, which I refuse to buy as they are poorly made and for a big guy don't provide support for what a podiatrist would recommend.There are sizes for 12, 12.5, 12.5-13, 13, and 13.5.I really don't know the difference between a 12.5 and a 12.5-13, I usually go by the European sizes but I posted a question about whether they had changed sizes and it never got answered.

Edit: after 5th hike, mesh seem begins to split on one shoe.Original review: Great shoe all around. Starts out with a few friction and pressure points, and can take time to break in because of the material and lack of padding. Still worth the extra acclimation.

Al recibirlos los saque de la caja para probarmelos y lo jale de la cinta que va en el talon para meter el pie el cual todavía no lo metía y se rompió desilachadose, eso fue al inicio ahora hay que ver que sigue

Eigentlich super Schuh.....wie gesagt eigentlich!Da wie auf den Fotos zu sehen ist bei !beiden! die oberste, auf der linken seite des schuhes, Öse für den Schnürsenkel ausgerissen ist. Das schon nach 8 Wochen, bei nichtmal täglichem Tragen und vorallem normalen Zubinden!!!Daher vllt eher ein konzeptioneller Fehler...!?!So oder so sehr schade, da ich von la sportiva andere Qualität gewohnt bin!!Deswegen für nen Trailrun Schuh nur 2 Sterne
