AWESOME!
Grew up on Wrestling at the Chase. Was even able to attend even though I was not old enough (had connections). This book brought back so many memories of watching and attending matches with my father. This is awesome

I was expecting more but it's a good buy for a St. Louis Wrestling Club fan.
ST. Louis wrestling is such a unique niche in terms of historical reading material goes. All of the good stuff out there has been written by people who were actually a part of the scene. Larry Matysik, St. Louis Wrestling Club promoter Sam Muchnick's right hand man has authored 3 or 4 very good books. They have the "feel" of someone who was a part of it all. Firsthand account. HIS Wrestling at The Chase book is the gold standard. Roger Deem, the teen photographer for SLWC has written two good books that truly capture the feel of St. Louis wrestling. His book The Strap on the lineal history of the Missouri State Championship is a must read. Firsthand account. This book reads like a research paper. It lacks the flavor of someone who was actually there. Much of the book is quotes from other books about the subject. I was looking for new information and got little. Had I not read the other books I know I wouldn't be so hard on it. Another thing that irritated me is inaccuracies. King Kong Brody was not 6'8". He was never even billed as 6'8". Ever. Ric Flair did not win the NWA belt in 1975. He was barely more than a rookie in 1975. I think he was still recovering from the plane crash back then. In the section on feuds no man, woman, or child who ever watched St. Louis wrestling would fail to mention the Dick "The Bruiser"/ Dick Murdock feud. It went on ad nauseum. That feud jumped the shark long before it was over and to not mention it in a chapter on feuds is practically a crime. My last bone to pick is trying to tie in Herb Simmons Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling to the former product is a reach and it took something away from the book. SICW material didn't belong in this book. Criticism aside, if you love St. Louis wrestling I highly recommend that you buy this book. The book is beautiful, the photos and memorabilia pictured are indeed incredible. Aside from what I wrote previously, the rest is accurate information. I will proudly display it on my coffee table. SLWC fans, buy this book. It isn't a Larry Matysik book. It isn't a Roger Deem book. But trust me, you'll get your "fix"

Not enough true Wrestling at the Chase material
The book is just ok and would have been much better if written and produced by Herb Simmons much less Larry Matysik who is no longer with us.Pictures are good but some aren't even from St. Louis. Seek out Larry Matysik's book instead as well as Scott Teal's great work at CrowbarPress.com.

Absolutely beautiful coffee table book on St. Louis Wrestling.
An absolutely beautiful coffee table book on the history of professional wrestling in the city of St. Louis. I was very surprised at the cheap price of this considering it’s size and the amount of gorgeous black and white AND full color pictures. Yes there are historical inaccuracies but the vast majority of the book is correct, informative and fascinating. An absolute must for any fan of pro wrestling’s rich history. But anyone could flip through this and be enthralled. I cannot recommend this book enough.
