Great way to consolidate most of your charging needs...
After struggling with a variety of separate 'wall warts' and camera specific charging docks, I learned of these unique solutions a year or so ago and I've been extremely happy with the versatility and utility of this unit and the optional charger plates. I have photo equipment from Nikon (3 battery types), Sony (3 more..) as well as some devices that use AA ni-cads. It seemed that I was always searching for where a certain charger had been used last....shelf, bedroom, car, etc...and since I always want to keep a few extra fully charged 'back up' batteries with me, this was an ongoing problem. Now, with this dual charger, I just keep the charger plates with the charger base, all in one location, problem solved..!I like the fact that this unit has two Battery Condition indicators that allow me to quickly verify the charge level of depleted Ni-Cads and gives me a rough idea of how long it might take to reach 100%. Much better than looking at a blinking amber light and making a wild guess..! "Ten minutes? Two hours?....hhhmmmmm!"The only small issue I have with this system is the fact that the individual charger plates are not marked with large visible lettering that would easily indicate which body/battery it was used for. I have solved this for myself by getting a Sharpie Metallic Marker in Silver and writing on the front and back (top and bottom?...your choice..!)..of each plate what it is to be used for...Nikon D750, Sony HandyCam, etc. This really saves time and frustration trying to read the tiny molded lettering on the plates.I also have the single charger base for use as a back up, but most especially when travelling and I have need to be able to charge my Ni-Cads in the car. This unit will operate on AC...or off your car's 12V DC. It does not have the indicator feature, but for me, that's insignificant in this usage. It (the single charger base)... can plug directly into a wall socket in a motel, so there's no extra cord to contend with.....just remember to take it with you the next day....you HAVE been warned...!!
