Great value for the price
We used this for a road trip from New Jersey to Tennessee and back. (1060 miles round trip). We have a 2011 Honda CRV without roof racks, so we used this by securing it through the door openings. We experienced high wind warnings on both travel days and had no problems with it. However, since we used it through the doors, it was pretty noisy. If you use roof racks you wouldn’t have this issue. We loaded up the night before and there was a huge rainstorm lasting 7-8 hours. We then drove through a rainstorm as well. Almost everything remained dry inside - including blankets and items we hadn’t placed in bags. A few items on one side got wet, but not too badly. HOWEVER - because we secured this without roof racks and the straps were through the door, in the morning after the storm the inside of the car was drenched, and all of the seats were wet. We had to cover them up with plastic to make the drive home. Also, while driving through the rain storm water was dripping in from the straps. Again, if you have roof racks, this is no issue.Despite the minor issues mentioned, we’ll still use this again and would recommend it. For the price and overall quality, I don’t think you’ll find better elsewhere. I had spent a fair amount of time researching these before purchasing one. Also, having roof racks eliminates almost everything I mentioned, other than a few items possibly getting wet.It seemed to affect gas mileage on the way down due to the high wind warnings and my tire pressure being low. On the way back, I had fixed the tire pressure issue and the wind was at our back, so there was no noticeable difference. It’s also huge! Here’s what we fit in easily:2 large 70L backpacking backpacks filled to the brimOne large duffel bag, approx 70L3 large yoga blankets and one queen size large blanket2 yoga mats in bagsLife jacketLarge Yoga bolster and 2 blocksTrash bag full of clothes

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!
Traveled 300 miles, about a five hour drive one way, and drove back and I couldn't be happier. Didn't travel more then 70 miles per hour at any time. This bag came in and did its job perfectly. We went camping and all of our gear fit in the bag leaving the trunk on our sedan free for other items.Inside the bag we put our 10 person tent. 4 sleeping bags, 4 sleeping mats, 2 pillows, 2 big blankets, 2 floor mats, 1 collapsible table, 1 collapsible cooler and 10 collapsible chairs.I would recommend to fill up your bag at home first to see how you are going to place your items the day of the trip and when the day comes you must load the bag after it has been placed on top of your car.The material was good and reliable for hot weather. Still need to try on cold weather.A small lock must be purchased to lock the items in your bag if you are going to leave your car outdoors. Also, it does eat up your gas but personally gas isn't an issue. All we care about is the storage space and this bag definitely came through!I would definitely recommend!

Not so water resistant
Bought this for our move back to Florida from Arkansas after my short term contract ended. We didn't have furniture, just daily living things and what we acquired in the months there so naturally we needed more space for things on way home. It was great, spacious, strong material. We used the slip mat and then added another plastic mat underneath to protect my jeep's extra large sunroof. The mat tore but the glass stayed intact! We ran into some rain in a few spots, worst was in upstate Alabama which lasted for a good 30-45min. Everything inside was wet, luckily everything was either in a plastic bag (vacuum sealed bags) or in a box. Looks like the inside items towards the middle were fairly dry it was the everything around the parameter of the zipper. Not sure why as the bag closed properly and has the flap that goes over the zipper. That is why I gave 4 stars. I have returned it because what good is a travel bag that everything gets wet in. Had our things not been properly packed we would have had a lot of wet clothing and damaged items.I will say though it held its ground on the roof and didn't move around or come loose, we were able to do 75 on the highway. The car had a lot of weight and with the extra wind resistance we did have to stop a lot more times for gas this time around but that was expected as we have a small suv that didn't have great gas mileage to begin with.I'd go with a rooftop cargo box instead.

Works great for long road trips.
This carrier bag worked great for my families move across the country. The attached pictures are from the end of the trip and it still looks brand new.Just to give an idea of the beating this bag can take we drove almost 3,000 miles from Idaho to Florida. There were several instances along our trip of high winds and heavy downpours and everything inside the bag stayed safe and dry. I checked the straps every time I stopped to fill up with gas and it never budged from my roof rack. I only used the side rails of my rack to attach it since my cross rails were too far apart to attach to those and it did not slide forwards or backwards at all. I did have about 100lbs worth of stuff in the bag so that may vary if you haul light stuff in it. I did not noticed too much of a change in my gas mileage averaging about 75-85mph on the freeway, but my suv also has a slope to my roof rack so that may have helped with wind resistance. There are not really any security features on this bag as we planned to leave it on the car when we stopped for sleep, but the zipper holes are big enough to fit a standard TSA luggage lock and it worked great. If someone really wanted to get into it I'm sure a knife would be able to slice it open.I definitely recommend this carrier if you plan on taking any short or long trips, it is the most cost effective and worked like a charm for our needs.

Listen To customer Review.
Straps will not work if you run it through inside your vehicle.Only two male.If you dont have raise roof rails dont buy.I will return this after our trip.Quality of materials is solid. Its just the straps that need to work on.Make your straps longer that it may reach both ends of male and female buckle. When I received the package it seems like that someone already bought and returned it.The box is broken and its not properly sealed.
