I love it. Picture quality is outstanding and the monitor ...
Having read mixed reviews on this monitor, I wasn't sure what to expect from it. Now that I have it, I love it. Picture quality is outstanding and the monitor looks monstrous compared to the dual 27" Full HD monitors I was previously using.I don't play action games, so I can't say how this monitor will perform on a gaming machine. But for grand strategy games like Crusader Kings II, Stellaris, Europa Universalis IV, and Victoria II, it's nothing short of awesome. Sports in HD look fantastic, and HD movies are great. I watched two episodes of Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes on Blue Ray last night and they looked fantastic.I did initially experience some of the "red blobs" on skin tones during dark scenes that have been reported in some other reviews, but manually updating the Windows 10 driver and tweaking the settings essentially solved the problem. I can still see it every once in a while, but it's very mild and does not bother me in the least. Overall, HD movies look great. The curvature of the screen is not extreme. I was worried it would look like a fishbowl, but that's not at all the case. I'd say it's just right. Sound quality from the speakers is very thin and tinny, so if you're planning on watching TV, movies, sports, etc, don't expect very good sound. I'm using a separate sound system, so that's not a factor for me.One thing to note if you are using the HDMI inputs is that only one of them is HDMI 2.0. The other is HDMI 1.4, which only supports a 30Hz refresh rate. To get the 60Hz refresh rate, you need to use HDMI input 2.Overall, the monitor is great. I'm very happy with the purchase and am amazed at the value. For reference, here are my machine specs:-CPU: AMD FX8350 4.0Ghz 8 Core-RAM: 32 GB-GPU: NVIDIA GTX1060 with 6GB of RAM

Pretty Amazing
I purchased this unit from Business Management Services, used in "very good" condition. It was well but not exceptionally well packaged, but no shipping damage. I would have called it "good" condition - it took a little cleaning up - but when cleaned it seemed flawless. No manual or drivers but you can get those on the web.If you've never had a 40" 4k monitor before hold on to your hat. It's a trip! I went from a 30" 2k Dell U3011 to this and my neck is still getting used to scanning for where things are. But you get used to it pretty quickly and it 's wonderful to have so much real estate and rez. Photos are amazing. Just hit "2" or "3" when you have one open and you'll see.I chose a totally black wall paper, which makes icons all pop out in terrific contrast. I downloaded Calibrize to adjust gamma. I recommend it wholeheartedly. You'll need to do some adjusting, and the rear mounted on off adjust button is in truth a pain. You can use it but it isn't convenient. A remote would have been nice.I used a swiffer duster pad to clean up the inevitable dust. Works great. And etronic wipes for organic material - finger prints, saliva, etc - that gets on the screen. People breath and sneeze in front of these things. Stuff happens.A 40" monitor is not easy to handle without getting fingerprints on the edge of the screen. Yes the bezel is minimal and that's fine but a larger bezel would make it easier to handle. Be careful. Maybe wear vinyl/nitrile gloves. And yes you can wall mount this unit. The plastic mask that surrounds the base mount WILL pop out. It just seems like it's going to break first. I used a screw driver on one side. Unscrew the base stub and you're good.I'm not a gamer but I'm pretty picky about monitors. I've used Iyamas, NECs, Dells, etc. This one seems as good as any I've encountered. No distortions, ghosting that I can tell, etc... Pretty amazing.

Wonderful. Buy with confidence.
This is a fantastic monitor. I'm really picky about resolution and image quality, and the mixed reviews made me a little nervous. I shouldn't have worried. I use this 80% for productivity (drafting Word documents, etc.) and 20% internet/gaming. It is absolutely perfect for work. I can easily place 3 documents side by side, and still have room at the top for other windows. The resolution is impeccable. Yes, I get that it is not running at ideal gaming Hz, but my games look every bit as good as the 2k 27" monitor it replaced. Text is clear and sharp, better than on my 2k monitor, even at the larger size. The design is beautiful, and it looks professional. My only gripe is that height adjustment would be nice, but it only sits about 4 inches off my desk, which is generally just fine. It does tilt, and that helps.I almost pulled the trigger on a Dell 38". So glad I chose this instead. The resolution is higher and the 16:9 ratio is much better for documents, movies, games, etc. There really is no other screen in this category, 4k with 16:9, and believe me, I have searched exhaustively.

Worst monitor I have ever purchased. All the whites are yellows.
And I have purchased at least 50 monitors in my career. I set it up, plugged it in, and got the yellowest whites I have ever seen on a monitor. Unfortunately, the unit arrives with ZERO instructions, except for some printing on the box. There are two HDMI ports, but one only supports v1.4 while the other supports v2.0. Of course, neither is labeled. You can go to the AOC website for this monitor and find that NO manual is offered for download there. HOWEVER, God bless Amazon, you can download a manual from Amazon for this monitor, which I did. While you would THINK the first HDMI port would be the 2.0 port, but in fact it is the second. I switched inputs and got no improvement. With the manual, I tried every combination of RGB, brightness, enhancement, etc. Little improvement in the whites was possible. I have a dual monitor setup, with the same graphics card driving both monitors, with identical HDMI cables to each monitor. I have attached a picture of the same AOC screen displayed half on the AOC monitor on the left, and half on a Samsung monitor on the right. You can readily observe the stark difference in color quality. Very aggravating to have to send a monitor back. AND, I just got an email back from AOC/Phillips confirming what I found: "You will not be able to match the specifications between a Samsung and an AOC monitor." They can certainly say that again in bold print.
